>Be 7 on Xmas
>On that year's wishlist both me and one of my brothers wrote that we really wanted a PS1
>Xmas morning comes around, we get to pick one gift to open at morning, rest is opened after dinner
>Brother is about to open a present but mom stops him
>Goes "Grandma wanted you to open this first with your siblings"
>Comes out with a big present and we all get excited
>Open it
>It's a fucking god damn PS1 from Grandma
>Everyone gets super excited
>Open presents after dinner
>Get memory card, an extra controller, Crash Bandicoot and Tekken
>The next few days, spend a crazy amount of time taking turns on the PS1 with siblings while enjoying "holiday snacks"

Very same Grandma gave me a Game Boy Color with Super Mario Land 2 another xmas. Uncle also modded our PS1 later down the line and sent us like 50 discs of copied games.

>me and my sister get an NES
>parents plug it up and my sis play SMB
>I spend the morning running back and forth between the living room and the bathroom vomiting because I'm sick
>probably vomit at least 6-7 times playing SMB for the first time
Not sure if I was actually sick or just allergic to Nintendo.

Lmao. Reminds me of the time I played Ocarina of Time in black and white since the GC Zelda Collection disc only supportez 60hz while my tv was 50hz.

>my bday in 1996
>N64 just came out a few weeks ago and I REALLY want it, first console I was actually hyped for and had been following all the information and screenshots available in game mags about it for at least a year
>parents say clerk at the game store said PlayStation is cheaper due to games being cheaper (piracy)
>they ask me if I'd prefer a playstation instead since I could get more games. I know a bit about playstation from magazines and although I'd prefer a Saturn than a playstation, which was still kinda unknown and could be another failure like 3DO, but I go with it and expect the best
>get a PS1 with Jumping Flash 2 and Tekken 2 for my bday
>happy as fuck about it to the point I'm not upset over not having a N64, though I still wish I did
>a week later, my grandma asks me if I still want a N64
>I say yes
>she already had bought it for me and it was hidden in the house, with a copy of Super Mario 64
Pretty blessed year. I still remember how weird and confusing, but incredibly amazing controlling Mario in 3D for the first time was.

Haha, sounds like a pretty fucking based grandma.
Another short grandma vidya story
>Be 2004
>Want Zelda Oracle of Ages on GBC
>Barely used internet back then and nearest game store was a 30min drive so didn't really think about them stop selling games for older platforms
>Xmas comes around
>Grandma had gotten me Minish Cap even though I still didn't have a GBA
>She finds out I can't use it
>I tell her I still really appreciated it
>She goes "Oh no, I'm sorry. I still have the reciept so I can trade it in."
>She comes back 2 days after for some coffe
>She goes "I got something else for you"
>She gives me back Minish Cap but also hands me a GBA

I have a vague memory of seeing SM64 for the first time in an N64 kiosk at Target and being blown away as a kid. One of the few games I KNEW I had to have.

Playing it the first time was even better, of course.

I'd always invite my friends over to play stuff, N64 multiplayer became a classic.

You have a nice grandma, anon.
Mine's were nice too, but all of them and every other adult despised gaming. You'll have more fun with a stick and hot pile of shit than with CRT and vidya. -they said
