It's a 2006 PC game so yes, it's comfortably retro.
I played it as a kid. It's pretty damn good for being basically an indie game(which usually had Team6 shit type of stuff in that budget bracket). Got a nice soundtrack too.
I used to play tons of Davilex and Team6 shit as a kid and somehow even enjoyed it despite also playing NFS and Midnight Club at the same. They had weirdly good music sometimes.

Yeah I remember very much enjoying it as a young man myself aswell! I'm tempted to buy the "remastered" one to give it another go. Shake that no one probably plays it unfortunately. I remember it being a mix between car combat and trackmania if I remember correctly

If that fits the retro rule then why did people tell at me for posting a psp game from 2005 ;(

Seems like this conversation was productive anyway, someone already curates one for motorsport. Pic Related.
It's normally best if you can find one official organizations run since it's normally up to date and accurately will account for schedule changes. 2nd best are news outlets. Fan run ones normally die after a year or fall out of accuracy over the course of a season. I'd full recommend it.

Your link seems to just be a normal schedule like the /sp/ one. Maybe you're misunderstanding what google calendar is useful for? if you subscribe to a Google Calendar it means you don't have to do any leg work. It auto syncs to your personal calendar and then notifies you depending on how you've configured your notifications. I don't ever have to look at a schedule or anything. My pc and phone notify me of upcoming stuff without me checking anything
If you do understand that then sorry I'm not trying to be patronizing.

if for whatever reason you end up heading to daytona, supposedly the area around there is dangerous if you aren't white
before this year at least, there seems to be history of people who could be wearing maga hats and giving odd looks if they don't see a white person walking around, to the extent that police have to be wary of situations

A DFGT is a great wheel to get if you can score one for $50 to see if you like wheels. A lot of people think they want a wheel, then they spend $300 on one and use it for a week and then it gets reboxed and sits in their closet forevermore.

Realtalk though, a G29 is probably the best wheel on the market in terms of price/performance though.

It is barely by a stroke winnable but not by much. Look at that, 3:11 we're coming in at. My gut feeling was right, some cars handle better so they always catch up. The Lotus is a lot of fun but it is a bath tub. Wouldn't stand a chance against these cars. That's why it was racing against a Mini. I was the Alfa on this grid, can't get into first place by the first bend. Predictable story, Duncan.

It's a 2D racing game released exclusively for arcades in the west and for NEO GEO CD in Japan AHAAHAH in 1996.

Imagine you are a little boy in 1997.
Your momma gave you a few dollars to play Street Fighter with you friends and after intense rounds of how-you-do-kens and sure-you-cans you are left with a single quarter, so you decide to try a racing game.
The arcade has Ridge Racer, that cool PS1 game everyone was talking about a few years ago; Daytona USA, a cool not-NASCAR game with neat drifts and funny Engrish man singing about nonsense; SCUD Race, a game with fucking Porsches and Ferraris and graphics that blow your mind and finally...something that kinda looks like Micro Machines but with rally cars.

Honestly, what would you pick?

all these nu-retro 2D racing games over-do the drifting. actual retro games didn't have that much sideways action

Lotus 3 looks alright and so does Double Axle and Super Hang On, but isn't there anything with great backgrounds and more environment sprites? The locations really set the mood in these games.

I like it a lot - just make sure to set steering speed to low and emulate the dreamcast version. The standard steering speed is waaaaay too sensitive for the physics model.

It's good but underdeveloped.
Would have liked to have seen the story mode actually implemented since the intro makes it seem like it's gonna be batshit insane.

I always think back that Driving Emotion and Enthusia are kind of ass, but R:Racing I don't feel that it sucks. Makes me want to give it another shot. Gran Turismo really did ruin racing games.

Gran Turismo (we are talking about 4 obviously) is very bland and boring, there is very little sense of speed, audio is poor, it's not very fun to play. Half the time I can't wait for the race to end just to see what car I won or to see that % number go up. It's grind and it's quite understated. Actual driving is so much more fun in GT1 and GT2, there is more sense of grip and acceleration, cars have more weight to them.
GT4 has that sense of progression, presentation, very, very polished feel and music, actual driving is of tertiary importance at best.

Worse is that the community quit on making patch for it, Extra options died on its early beta builds, and they moved to U2 and forwards.
Which now supports new cars without replacing them, including Olympic Imports.
