What are your guys' basic recommendations (other than the shit that's already been posted) for Genesis games? I've only ever played a few Sonic games, Streets of Rage, Ghouls N Ghosts, and that Ninja Turtles one. What cool shit have I missed out on?

It's my first run-through of Bloodlines and I'm enjoying it quite a bit, I've heard lots of bitching over the years about the lack of the full whip control that SC4 gives you in comparison but the only directional difference I've noticed for the whip so far is the inability to whip directly above you. I listened to the wrong nerds all this time...

Castlevania 4 is good, but you need to ignore retards who can't understand that most Castlevania games aren't designed for 8 direction whip, and don't need it. Hell, 4 is barely designed for it, you can kill enemies safely in far too many places.

I'm actually surprised how poor Ristar sounds. Comix Zone came out the same year and all the voices in that are crisp easy to understand.

I think shinobi 3 is slightly better, but yeah bloodlines is a close 2nd with shining force being 3rd.
