My three.

Camping backup gobag is n30 pro.

Nyko is pc.

Bluetooth shit is for android devices.

The n30 can be used on both though and is the only one not in some way damaged as it is the newest. The blue is pushy buttons. The gray is damaged left analog a bit but not enough to keep me from beating cavestory's dead core. Just slightly damaged so I actually use it the most, especially for it's actual buttons being near immortal. Not perfect but sturdy the gray is. The fan is broken also. So, the compact n30 is undamaged but the worst to hold. All three have their flaws. The blue would be the hardest to beat a reflex oriented game though it was fine at first. I've had to fix it once already with glue. It used low quality latex to make the stuff push out but cut through itself.

The one and only issue with the Gamecube controller is the shoulder buttons. Bluetooth one has a little lag, wired does not. The lag will only matter if you're already good enough at the game to feel something is off. If you've never played a certain game, you won't notice. Talking games where reaction is important obviously.

Anyone tried out one of these bad boys? I'm curious if the D-pad is any good, ASCII made some alright stuff, and I picked one of these up to play the PS2 port of Seaman.

>> No.7092314

I don't know man. Honestly.
The ideal controller doesn't exist (6 face buttons, 4 shoulder buttons and a good d-pad).
I have yet to find one that's good for what I need.
For emulating PS1/PS2/N64 you'd need a decent pair of analogs, which already removes 80% of controllers from the list. Then you'd need 4 shoulder buttons. But by far my biggest issue is with the D-Pads. Just being able to pull off a shoryuken isn't enough proof that it works. I needed a controller that can give me consistent diagonals.
Since I started playing umihara kawase I started paying more attention to how the d-pad needs to be.
I've been tempted into getting a DS3 or DS4 but from what I remember, holding any diagonals on their d-pads was a pain in the ass. Then again I could be wrong.
I found that for myself, big old plates instead of individual buttons work the best. Like the sega controllers or similar ones.

>> No.7092332

>>7092314
The ideal controller doesn't exist because it's fundamentally impossible.

You can't have optimal hand position for both the D-pad AND an analog stick.

6 face buttons and 4 shoulder buttons is also major overkill, nothing comes close to needing that much.

There are plenty of decent 2 trigger, 4/6 face button, 1 d-pad controllers that work great. And there are tons of good dual analog sticks for games that expect analog input. The only exception to this is a couple of PS2 games that use analog face buttons, and some obscure hardware like the fucking Pippin.

You can't have one controller for every game, but you can have 2 controllers that cover 99.9% of games.

Honestly a saturn controller with select, home, l2, and r2 would be ideal. I know the buttons would be redundant but thats not a bad thing. Diffrrent games would be mote comfortable using the bumpers while others the buttons.

Then I'd just have a separate controller for 3D. Something like the wiiu pro controller setup but modernized, with back paddles and shit.

The DS3 is wireless, the USB cable is just for charging. And it's not a USB HID standard controller, it requires some special software.

I used this in the 2000s as my emulation pad. Beat some difficult hacks with it.

One of the best things about these were how common they were in thrift stores. I had four of them that I paid a dollar each for. They are very easy to hack into arcade stick internals too.

NES chinesium controller for NES/Game Boy/Game Boy Color games
Buffalo Super Famicom for SNES and Gameboy Advance
Retro Bit Tribute 64 for N64
And an Xbox One controller for anything that uses two thumbsticks.

just a heads up, the newest iteration of the Xbox controller (the "Xbox Core" controller) is on sale for $40 on amazon. It's a good deal, I couldn't pass it up.

>> No.7105461

A Super Famicom controller connected through an adapter. I only emulate Gameboy and Gameboy Advance games, since emulation of these platforms have been very accurate for very long, and they're not meant to be displayed on CRTs anyway.

What games do you use it for?

I got a Steam Controller for $10 that has gyro stuff and I've never figured out a good application for it.

I play a lot of single player shooters and mixed mode games with it RE:Rev 2, GTA, MGS etc. are all really good with it
CEMU and Yuzu also really really benefit from it, gyro for fine control and thumbstick for gross control is actually insanely good for aim and its becoming more common now

Pretty much useless for retro stuff sadly due to lack of support but its a big value add if you also play modern stuff

>CEMU/Yuzu

That does give me some ideas. I might pull my Steam Controller out of my closet and see what I can do with it. I might be able to use it for Dolphin WiiMote pointing/waggling too.

Why are controller buttons A, B, C, X, Y, and Z? What happened to the D, E, and F buttons?

>Do your joystick have the same issue?
Happened at first, but it was because I plug the reciever directly to the USB port of my PC. I've then used the suplied extension cord and make sure the reciever was alwasys in sight. Now I barely have that problem, one or two times a week at most. Have this controller since 2015 and still working as charm.

>Should I return it?
If it really bothers you few random disconection after making sure the reciever is always on sight then yes.

>Best third party controller I've ever used.
After I bought the Hori pad that OP posted, when I go back to my Sn30Pro the feeling is that I am using a broken controller. I have exactly that model, with the Start and Select tilted, and it's terrible.

One of these afterglow controllers, though the sticks are giving me weird drift issues and haven't had the best luck fixing it, I'm thinking of switching to a Dualshock but if anyone has suggestions for controllers I'm open for that.

I think my X-Box 360 controller is dying. I just put these admittedly old but freshly charged batteries in it and it doesn't want to turn on.
I've had this controller for a long time but I don't think I really got that many hours out of it.
