Do you collect old gems?
Do you consider it complete if it only has the instruction manual in the box (no flyer/epilepsy warning)?
Do you accept non mint games in your collection?

also, the price on those is getting rather insane, where will it stop?

yes
yes (dont be autistic, nobody cares about your collection but you)
yes, it's about PLAYING THE GAME NOT COOOOOOOLECTING

It won't stop, as more games fail, money gets cheaper, the prices will rise ever so slightly while other games might become less sought after with HD remakes and the like.

also, you need to go back.

>Do you collect old gems?
Currently N64 and Wii U is my focus, but if I see other good deals I'll get it.

>Do you consider it complete if it only has the instruction manual in the box (no flyer/epilepsy warning)?
Yes, has to have manual and box to be complete.

>Do you accept non mint games in your collection?
Yes, then if I find a better condition game I get it. Multiple copies of games are ok to me.

>also, the price on those is getting rather insane, where will it stop?
It won't

when i first started buying old snes games it was purely for playing the game, and i kind of assigned the CIB nostalgia to the child storage section of my brain. I don't have mint games because of this mindset, but I definitely prefer "good" condition at least. I do think the flyers and stuff are required for cib, though the instruction manuals and box are the most important.

>Do you collect old gems?
I just got into getting snes games. Mainly focus on ps2, gamecube and xbox.
>Do you consider it complete if it only has the instruction manual in the box (no flyer/epilepsy warning)?
That's extra complete. I can live without the manual but It's ideal to have.
>Do you accept non mint games in your collection?
Depends on what you mean. Used? yes. If it's a cartridge game with the sticker ripped or the cover art destroyed no

>Do you collect old gems?
I did. I gave up trying to get the ones I wanted since prices got to crazy but I've got most of what I really wanted.
>Do you consider it complete if it only has the instruction manual in the box (no flyer/epilepsy warning)?
Nope, complete is complete so it even has to have everything it came with (excluding plastic wrap).
>Do you accept non mint games in your collection?
Yep, got lots of games with ripped stickers, writing, and cracks. As long as the game will still play it's all good although not going to pay premium prices for heavily damaged goods.

>also, the price on those is getting rather insane, where will it stop?
On CiB stuff? I suppose when interest dries up enough over time. I do think we might see vintage comic book type prices if roms and discs start rotting/dying to the point of being beyond use.

It is impossible to keep SNES boxes in mint condition if you actually use it, so, no, I don't care about that.
I care about completion if the game came in a plastic/dvd case though.

I don't do NES, SNES or N64 in box - even when I started years ago, the premium was too high for my taste.

I like CIB Gameboy games just because loose handheld cartridges are hard to display decently - GBA/GBC were not too much and are now only getting to be way too expensive.

I'll compromise on label quality if I can get a hard to find game for a large discount - I just want to play the damn thing anyways. I picked up Mega Man X3 and Metal Warriors for about 60% of their market value because of label condition this year and they weren't awful by any means.

That reflects my philosophy when it comes to collecting, really, compromise on quality only when the price is significantly discounted.

The guy who owns the video game museum in New York also bought a fake copy of Mega Drive Tetris, of which there are only 3 confirmed copies in the world.

>Do you collect old gems?
I used to, still have a decent-sized collection of Genesis/Sega CD, PlayStation and PS2 games.
>Do you consider it complete if it only has the instruction manual in the box (no flyer/epilepsy warning)?
Yes, just the game, the box and the manual make a game complete in my eyes.
>Do you accept non mint games in your collection?
I have collected plenty of games that aren't mint or CIB.
>also, the price on those is getting rather insane, where will it stop?
Prices will probably stabilize over the next 10 to 15 years before we see a sharp decline in the same way collecting baseball cards fell out of vogue. The prices of many of these games are getting to the point of where it'd be far more cost-effective to order a flash cartridge or an optical drive emulator if you're simply wanting to play on original hardware. Anyone else interested in retro games is emulating them anyway.

While collecting video games has been enjoyable for myself in the past, as I've grown older, I've realized that it's a huge fucking waste of money. People nowadays are even selling reproduction games and passing them off as genuine like some people do for vintage guitars and shit. It's grown to the point of where it's largely not worth it and most collectorfags simply place their collection on a shelf display, never to play them and let the data rot away over time.

TL;DR: Get a flash cartridge/ODE if you like original hardware or emulate if you just want to play video games.

Fuck scalpers who try to charge over 40 bucks for a common SNES game and collectors for actually buying them and maintain the bubble

I have a moderate collection of SNES games, plus a Gameboy. Didn't buy them as collectibles, just bought them to play and held on to them forever.

Honestly if I'd known how much autists would pay for boxes and instructions I would have kept all that shit, I ended up throwing them all away because I didn't see any need for them.

>> No.7094516

>>7094453
I always tried to keep everything but my dad is a clean freak who eventually threw it all away. The fact that autists pay so much is because hardly anybody thought to keep everything back then. It's easier to just buy those cartridges loose anyway. The cardboard boxes are so fragile, they'll get nicked and destroyed unless you opened it perfectly the first time and then kept it in a sleeve in a safe or something.
