Action Quake 2 invented the blueprint but how convenient for Counter-Strike to take the blame for everything. As usual, Quake was the culprit all along.

You don't give all the credit to Van Gogh whenever someone paints something sad.
Counter Strike is what got popular. It's what gets the credit. So the story of history goes.

online fps so thats not goldeneye..

early online versions started 2 months before rainbow six.

It was the shit back then, anyone who was around and played will still put it in a solid top 5 of best games.

i'm with you but it's not CS's fault that people stopped playing arena fps. games like quake 3 actually take skill and practice, it was inevitable they would decline in popularity

Blame for what? Killing Arena FPS?
There are a lot of reasons why those died and none of them have anything to do with Counter-Strike.
Hell, CS is still somewhat alive today by a stroke of luck. If QC and UT4 were actually finished and marketed they would be alive too., as there is still a market for a good DM/Instagib game.
Austistic duelfags blaming CS for the death of their genre are almost as hilarious as autistic shmupfags hating JRPG.

So for more back history it was a free mod for quake2. a standalone complete total conversion multiplayer only. People came out to make maps/assets for it.. in the hundreds. A massive community project worldwide. Theres like 800 maps, with 100 being legit high quality.

I have a client that was made by some guy in finland, where the game has had a regular game since 1998 still today. Its also had more features added to it I will upload it. It contains 20 years of this community project.

so all binds are remembered forever and reset if put manually in your autoexec.cfg.

The game is very manual and mechanical, check out the binds in the menu.

.pkz files auto load and can be unzipped if you want to check out the assets or map names.

In my opinion, yes. AQ2 is way faster paced as Q2's physics are insanely broken allowing you to skate off of any slope and fling yourself up ledges. One thing I would do with my brother was have us line up on a street with the sawn off shotguns and set it to fire both barrels and joust eachother.

>> No.7083542

>>7083108
Yeah there’s a q2 jump mod to exploit the physics but it’s really hard. There’s no team damage for jousting but the umm hand cannon will blast you. Other than that you’re a troll

CS and AQ2 (if not Quake 2 itself) were the beginning of the end. Zoomers will pretend to know the shot claiming Half-Life ruined everything but it was Quake 2 and AQ2 which lent itself to CS. Save me, Romero.

lol wut? Maybe the weapons are based on real ones but the game itself has nothing to do with realism.

Yeah locational damage but the cartoon feel of it is actually hilarious

>> No.7083831

>>7083719

The physics were actually meant to be realism too but the devs got a virus and whiped out a chunk of the code. That and you can kick people 2-3 miles in the distance kind of takes away from realism id say.
