Yes, I've been using it for years but it also took years for me to try and understand how pratical it is. I emulate every home console until PS1/SAT/N64 and arcades and portables. But I know there are core for the newer hardwares too.

How does this even work emulated? I thought there was a light sensor gimmick required to play.

I'm gonna be playing through MGS1 soon, does retroarch have an option to "change controller input" for the Psycho Mantis fight? Beetle PSX.

theres a patch for it and you hold one of the buttons and press on the dpad to fill or decrease the light meter

I play on an honor system and I only put in as much light as there actually is outside. I usually play at night so I'm pretty fucked, but at least I'm not a total cheat.

I've used it on and off for a good couple years, mostly for it's exclusive cores you can't use anywhere else like it's N64 cores, it's forks of Mednafen's modules and the PC version of Genesis Plus GX.

Have it on an android box and it's ok.
Great for a quick shot of retro fun without dragging out a vintage system.

The shader menus are real glitchy in retro arch and they are generally badly designed. A lot of the time I set up a shader and it freezes going to full screen or loses settings when I exit. Been play 1080 and Duke nukem 64 using the LLE gpu plugin looks real nice, performance is a bit higher than original hardware but not too much. I brought a usb n64 controller and it was just aweful, didn't fit together well at all and had sharp edges.
