They’re called reikyaku (or netsusama) sheets. They relieve fevers, migraines, tension and fatigue.
They allow Arino to push past the limits of human endurance to unleash his full power.

They are in good terms, ever since the Nintendo Channel and WiiU exclusive videos.
The partnership is already happening with those exclusive videos on no other media, as well as certain good relationships with Arino himself and many of the Nintendo Staff (as seen on the Tokyo Game Show reports)

Perhaps they may have not made bigger events yet (like the Shonen Jump ones on Odaiba) because nintendo doesn't have enough free time, or Arino and the crew doesn't have it or maybe they haven't come up with something that big yet, but i'm just speculating; who knows? I personally think Arino would be an average tiered character, to reflect how good he is at games. His special gimmick is that the longer he plays (more specifically, the more damage he takes, the more he uses a move, the more he hits, the father he is knocked away), these get better with time. His final smash will be him putting his cooling pad on, which will max his abilities out for the remainder of the match.

Arino is introduced after the first "event" in Story mode. Mario is fighting against Kirby, and when the game is over, you hear "Oh! Ikemasu! Yosh!" and it cuts to real life Arino playing SSBK.

Yep. It then plays out like a normal episode of GameCenter CX, until Arino sees something weird on the screen that no one else sees.

"Eh! Is that a portal or somethin'?"

"We don't see anything, Arino-san."

"Whaddya mean you don't see anythin'? It's right here!"

Arino points at the black hole, but Arino is sucked into the game. The GCCX video fades to gray and plays that "ominous guitar wail" with the narrator saying something like "The impossible has happened; our beloved chief has been taken hostage by the very game he was playing!"

Arino will be the only character who actually talks in the stories, and will even throw his signature commentary around. Like he will come across Ridley and he will say "UWA, TEKAI"!

60hz on a TV comes out to 1 frame every 16.7ms. That's not a whole lot of time.

Input lag and lcd monitor lag come right off the top, leaving little (if any) time left for the emulation to happen before you at least one frame off.
NES units didn't have to deal with nearly as much lag back then as software emulators do now. People say they don't notice, and maybe they don't, but where precision counts is the first place you'll spot it.

Say you intend to react to something that happens for 6 frames (1/10sec) and your gear is two frames off. Now that's much harder to do. (It's early. Let me know how far off my math is on any of this)

As a kid I could get to the last level in Super C without dying. My hands knew the way, and though they're rustier now, they can still get pretty close. Those same hands are lucky to make it though level 1 on the first life in a software emulator.

And you can overclock SNES Doom to run better than it was designed for. A few months ago, they managed to hex edit some of those Super FX games so that they can run at the fastest speed possible as opposed to being hard coded to some bullshit limit. Those older overclocks were done without hex editing.

But now you're assuming that Arino has the skill to do something like that.

You can script responses to a game, sure, but you can't script gameplay, let alone live gameplay, at least not the winning side of it. You could get him to, say, die over and over, but you can't get him to pull out a clutch win with 1 HP left unless he had some ridiculous gaming skill.

Because even the tiny parts of those that ARE scripted often go off the rails. Did you watch Takeshi's Challenge Live? They do a bit at the beginning where Arino is supposed to be hiding obviously. About a year and a half ago I spent a great deal of time researching what HDTV to buy with the only criteria being how fast it reacted for games. This is the TV I keep in my living room and I have several consoles hooked up to it... well I've always thought it was pretty good.

Then a few months ago I rediscovered my love of the NES and hooked one up to it.
I thought everything was mostly fine, I finished Ninja Gaiden on it for example, but last night I played Mike Tyson's Punch-Out. Now I'm not the world's best Punch-Out player but I'm decent. I can beat Tyson and most of the rest of the game I dominate, but last night I couldn't get past Soda Popinski... wtf?! I tried 4 times and lost every time...

So you know how this story ends. I go get a CRT out of the garage and all problems are fixed, I promptly get to Tyson (I lost to Tyson, but Soda Pop didn't even land a hit on me)... and now I'm upset about my TV.

The thing is, I picked this TV out for it's suitability for gaming, but it's still not good enough? So what I want to know is, has anyone beat Mike Tyson's Punch-Out on like a 55" HDTV? If so what model? I find it hard to believe it's even possible.

>> No.712178

well to give the kacho some credit, he did beat ninja spirit in 2 hours, which it took the AD 2 hours just to beat the freefalling section just before the final boss.

Arino can't into momentum. ANYTHING with momentum will ruin him. That's why he could beat Ninja Gaiden but needed tons of help to beat Sonic the Hedgehog. Like at the point in Scrap Brain Zone where there are barrels that move up and down and can crush you, it never occurred to him to move back and start moving so that he'd be at a decent speed when the barrel moved up. He'd just hold right, push against it and barely make it when it came up, he died on those things constantly.

For that reason he has more trouble with Mario or Sonic than he does with games that should be much harder to the aforementioned games. It's not acting either because if he can clear the game in 2 hours, he will and has done that a couple times.

Also, the Retro Game Challenge (which also would have been a MUCH better title than Retro Game Master) undub patch is awesome. A shame it wasn't in there as an option (like in the Castlevania DS games where you can switch from English voices to Japanese voices), but it's great to still be able to change it. Did you read the whole article? It's about rational frustration. It explains what went wrong without making excuses. The guy who wrote it made that online guide to the show and helped to organize the gathering in the US special.

So... does this mean "an hour maximum" or "at least an hour"?

An hour maximum is what it says in Japanese.

OP on that post, it requires your name, and I can't imagine the show has a large foreign viewership domestically, so a sudden rush of foreign names might seem suspicious, since new episodes aren't being distributed internationally.

Maybe google common Japanese names and use those, but even then a sudden rush of requests for The Lost Vikings might seem suspicious.

Feels good. It's been a quick week.

Yeah, it's best to play it safe out of an abundance of caution. We don't want to accidentally sabotage things.

Are there any other similar games he should play? Prince of Persia was great to watch. OOTW and Flashback were OK but not on the same level in my opinion.

Exactly. Plus, it probably logs IP addresses, and a bunch of non-Japan posts would look odd IMO

So with games like Adventure Island with no saves... how? Just leave your NES on all night?

This is one instance in which I'm OK with save-states, as long as they're not mid-gameplay, and disposed of after being loaded.

I'd like to see him play Nosferatu.

It's just a health and safety disclaimer so they can say they warned people if someone has a seizure, etc. Pretty common.

Adventure Island was almost too much even for Urakawa. They could have made a whole episode of just HIM playing through it.

Anyone know how common it is to die while marathoning a game? I know it happens in Korea from time to time.

They could do DVD bonuses or something with him playing ludicrously difficult games.

Finland, reporting in. GCCX was actually mentioned in a Finnish gaming mag earlier this year, they'd interviewed zari-gani an' everything.
