How about a retroarch thread?

I've been messing around with shaders recently, and I just tried out crt-royale. I wanted to see what others had to say about it and what I can do to improve the image further. Resolution for me is kind of fucky because I am using a 1600x900 display, however.

Also, PCSX2 is being added soon.

When it comes to shaders "improvements" are pretty subjective, because not all CRTs looked the same.
For the most part you should just fuck around with them for fun and see what appeals to you the most. Your preferred shader will also likely change between games and consoles.

I've got my eyes on the PCSX2 core they're developing. Will be interesting if it ends up easier to use then the standalone program because they're technically re-writing the whole thing for 64-bit.

Yeah your resolution is off, try changing the resolution to 1280 x 960, it will cut off a few pixels on top and bottom but the shader will look correct also don’t use inbuilt screenshots if you go beyond resolution as it will crash, just use print screen

That helped a lot, thanks.

Shame about inbuilt screenshots not working, though. It was very convenient to have them placed in the folder where my ROM is located.

print screening shit is kinda fucky though, there's a noticeably large delay when pressing it and getting a screenshot. Samus is missing here but I just took damage so I assume that's the flickering.

I have a brand new sony oled and a fv310. I'd still give the edge to the crt for old games just because of the perfect motion clarity, light guns, and the fact that everything "just works" when you plug it in without fussing with configurations. That being said I've taken a definite liking to playing ps1 stuff on my nvidia shield lately.

Does anyone here use retroarch on a shield? I'm always confused about whether or not I'm running a game at 4K. The shield's main output res is set to 4k but the video scaling options in RA i usually have at 5x integer scale or ~1600x1200. When i move it any further it just starts rendering the game as a window that starts overscanning instead of rendering at a higher res but scaled to fit, conversely if I set it to like, 720p its a tiny window in the middle of the screen. I like xm29+
it gives the image a warmish tint due to LUT, but it makes the picture better

>> No.7067280

>>7067273
you can change the LUT if you go to the folder alter the name of the LUT file

Yes I'm using a LUTless preset for some games that already are overbearingly saturated/orange visually like vagrant story, and stock for everything else

did software rendering work for you? one of the main incentive in using retroarch instead of standalone is crt shaders and obviously they're best with software mode

>Been doing some of the Retroarch Achievements
Don't know why just fun to go back and try some of those things out. Always fun seeing an achievement on beating a boss or something in a way I never knew about or force me to play a certain style I'm not use to. Not really into the annoying ones but most of them are just a fun extra to do while playing.
