it started out as a remake of zelda 1 (pure zelda goodness imho) and that fact reflects in its overworld (the first dungeon is straight up in a dead tree just like the original) it is also a no nonsense adventure romp with all sorts of classic & original items
I love the final boss especially, due to it taking place on a 2D sidescrolling plane
there is also a second overworld with an original species exclusive to the game Subrosians
the seasons changing mechanic doesn't alter the landscape too much to be unrecognizable and feels like a natural macguffin item to revolve the game around

long story short it is at least as good as Ages, but I prefer it personally due to various reasons
(forgot to mention big goron is at the top of a mtn peak, it's just such an atmospheric classic zelda game)

I didn't say MM was in the same tier as the original, ALTTP, or OOT. I just said OOS was shittier than it. It's good but not great.

And it's still worse than Link's Awakening because most of those features aren't as good.

MC having a gacha game does mean it's not as good as most Zeldas. It's still clearly superior because there's something vaguely resembling a challenge in MC and there isn't anything remotely hard about TP.

The only edge TP has over WW (especially WWHD) is more dungeons. It's a great edge, but it still involves a boring and ugly world with poorly utilized items and obscene amounts of hand-holding and linearity *even by the standards of the latter half of the series*. It's not phenomenal. It's decent.

Zelda II is the worst of the 2D Zeldas, the worst of the retro Zeldas, and less of a Zelda game than BOTW. It is almost the only one I have no urge to replay, though the other two are clearly worse choices.

No, I'm not. The Temple of the Ocean King is a chore and ST's equivalent dungeon fixing the major problems is a step up. I like the trains more than sailing in PH, and Zelda as your companion is cute and fun. ST is the better DS game. PH isn't worth revisiting.
