Why not? She's naturally talented and has a strong affinity for ki manipulation. There's nothing to say that she couldn't feel it out on her own.

You have to remember Ryu is more "normal' than a lot of the cast. There are fighters with more natural ability than him but he manages to be better than they are because he is constantly pushing himself in spite of not having a natural affinity. Ken is good at fighting but only because he figures things out quickly and relies on that knowledge, not driving himself to refine and tune once he has the basics down.

The cool thing about Sakura is that she actually didn't. She doesn't do that thing in anime where she magically gets good. She actually sucks at it. She needs a running start to imitate a shoryuken. What exactly is Ryu's goal in life? The man is approaching middle age, probably has never held a job in his life and I doubt he has an education. He lives in the woods like a hobo and has to rely on Ken to fund his travel and basic necessities. The guy is basically a professional leech and has no ambitions other than to git gud at fighting, but then what? Let's say he's mastered it by 50, what's he going to do for the next 30 years of his life, assuming he lives that long and doesn't die from intestinal parasites from drinking pond water? His quest was noble when he was 20-ish, but now it's just getting sad.

The movie's funny because it isn't really canon but went on to influence the canon and presentation of future games. M. Bison and Sagat weren't hulking steroid monsters until that movie, for instance, and went on to take that appearance in the games. The grassy field during a thunderstorm was from the movie and later appeared in A2 and now in SFV. Ryu carrying around a nap sack full of his prize earnings that they showed him having in his SF3 fight intros.

As far as I know he doesn't *do* anything for money*, his wealth is entirely inherited. I think Sean's skills represent Ken's hubris; he took on an apprentice before he was ready, unlike Ryu, who had a would-be apprentice throw herself at him and he declined, knowing he wasn't at that level yet.

*If I choose to believe that Street Fight prize money is insanely lucrative, that would explain Ken and Ryu: Ken's wealth would be at least partially earned, and Ryu gets by just fine because though he's a wanderer, he's got tons of money in the bank since he's so frugal.
