Now that's stupid logic. Plenty of good games get annoying fanbases and to write off a game cause of that is just retarded. Also I wouldn't really call the overall (yes including 4 and beyond) RE fanbase cancer, it's at least less annoying then the SH fake fandom that jerks off 2 way too hard. SH 2 is also still a good game despite said annoying fanbase though

I never knew this game was supposed to be hated until the cutting line was moved and I started seeing daily threads about it.

I'm not playing it anyway so level with me here: is it actually terrible, is it just a CHANGE=BAD kind of thing for diehard fans of the series, or is it all just a meme?

lmao it's literally one dude with autism making non-stop threads about how much it sucks and other people reacting. See the constant Mother 3 threads and the HALF LIFE SUCKS threads for more of the same around here.
Anyways the game is legit great. Change = bad pretty much sums it up only most classic fans also enjoy RE 4, I know I do at least. It's more 5 and 6 that people really don't like and 4 gets run off hate cause it was the first more 'action'-y sort of game (it was actually a solid evolution from 3's focus on action but they'll deny that up and down.)
