The games on this are actually quite fun

Good taste.

it's a shame that you had to deal with eye strain after 5 minutes and sit in a terrible posture which hurts after 10 minutes to play them

Why is this so fucking common?

I’d like to try it but I think my eyes will bleed. Seriously you just stick your head into a world of red and black and act like everything doesn’t look awful? Wario land looks fun, mario clash, tennis and maybe a few others but those graphics look downright painful. Is it not as bad as it looks in screenshots in real life or something?

It looks like what you see but it’s not bad. At least I never got a headache from playing.

There’s not much of a selection but I enjoy Wario Land and Teleroboxer the most.

Virtual Boy Wario Land deserves a full remake.

Any more than Wario Land 1 2 3 or 4? Those are great games. VB is the only one I haven’t played is it a standout or just on the same level? Maybe a collection a la Super Mario Allstars? Just wistful thinking probably wario is about minigames now if anything.

My local Toys R Us had a demo unit with the stand on backwards so that it could be tied into the shelving easier. It was probably common at other stores, too.

wonder if anyone ported / made an emulator for these games for modern vr systems. or even a virtual boy paintjob for modern vr systems.

I loved mine as a kid but I haven’t played a physical virtual boy in over a decade, I have no idea how my eyes would feel about it these days.
I had Mario Clash, Tennis, and Red Alarm, all 3 were pretty fun.

Its not backwards. That is how the stand is supposed to go.

Of all the games I own(ed) I'd say 3D Tetris is easily the weakest. The rest were all solid titles. I played the fuck out of Galactic Pinball. Still would, really

I'd rather have a warthog's rancid diarrhea shit oozing down my throat than play THAT anal abomination. WHAT were they THINKING?!?!?!

Why is it even possible to attach the stand backwards? That's poor design.

Virtual Boy's library is extremely small but also surprisingly good in terms of overall quality. The only real masterpiece is VB Wario Land (with Teleroboxer coming very close), but the rest of the games all range from decent to good, only actual bad one being Waterworld (which I think was the only VB game developed in the west? Not sure, maybe the nester bowling game was western too).
It even has some good variety, pic related is a strategy RPG lol.

>> No.7038258

The Wario on it is excellent, one of my favourite scotformers of all time.

The games are. The hardware is shit.
I'm curious as to how it is played thru a modern VR headset.

>> No.7038305

t. never actually used a VB

>>7038181
That’s crazy I never knew an RPG ended up on the system. Sounds like kind of an awful combination desu

>> No.7038480

honestly the VB emulators for modern VR headsets are a better experience than a real VB

>> No.7038483

>>7036678
There is a VR emulator for it called VBjin-OVR, but I've found that for some reason the performance isn't great and it would skip a frame every second or so. Instead I'd recommend just using Virtual Desktop + RetroArch and Beetle VB which has an SBS 3D mode. This will also give you more control over the virtual screen's size and distance from you face.

>> No.7038523

>>7038483
I use vbjin with no problem except rarely when I start up a game the screen will look like it's 30 feet away and underneath me

>Red Alarm

I played the shit out of that as a kid. I would lie in bed with my Virtual Boy painfully balanced on my face and stay awake until like 2am playing it. Seriously felt like the future at the time. So many secrets hidden in that game too.
