You can use cheats to choose any zone and act you can start from.

Scrap Brain is almost as hard, since the only really difficult thing about Labyrinth is the boss. It entices you to speedrun the obstacle course, so you're likely to fuck up, and the water forces you to go as fast as you can, so you're even more likely to fuck up.

Thank God beating him is not necessary to clear the level.

One thing I liked about Sonic 1. The levels were actually pretty difficult.

Sonic 2 was easy as hell for most of it, including chemical plant if you're familiar with it. Metropolis and Death Egg are quite literally the only challenging parts of the game.

Sonic 3 and S&K are also mostly easy. Not nearly as easy as 2, but still. I hate that combining the two made the 3 levels even easier. Launch Base (3 alone only), Sandopolis and Death Egg being the only challenging levels.

Also, I didn't post Labyrinth because it's too hard. I just find the entire zone incredibly slow and boring, I hate the boss "fight", and I hate that Act 3 of Scrap Brain is basically Labyrinth Zone Act 4.
There's no slopes in the level for you to do Sonic-stuff like rolling into a ball on either. It's all just slow floaty underwater platforming on big brown blocks.
