Was there a gas leak at the office or something? Did they think they were making an NES game?

It has post-mission saving. The game is really easy compared to the later games in the series that feature a lot of platforming over death pits, so you don't need mid-mission saving.

If you can't beat a level with the lives given and found, then you're shit at games. What you want is for the game to be easy enough for you so you can beat it for internet cred while all the rest of us already have as it is.

I love it bros, the worst problem is what to choose, since it's a 1995 game i'm using Sound Canvas for now (i think the only middle 90s game that's is better with MT-32 is Lands of Lore).
Also the DOSPack anon put on the pack and pre-configured to use keyboard+mouse, you can use his folder with anyone DOSBox you want (like ECE, Box-X or staging).

Also 98 games:

Is that you doomanon? BDG here, coincidentally just updated the pack today, among other things MBF dos doom now has the vanilla smooth weapons.wad that was only available for modern sourceports at first. Have a good day friend.

I tried using the roland sound canvas VA alon with loopmidi and I couldn't get it to work properly. I was fiddling around with it for so long that my "trial" on sound canvas VA expired.

Try these, but you were on the right path with loopmidi, just create a new port (i named my one VSTi) and since i using Windows 10 i also use MIDIMapper Configurator so i can change the Default MIDI device easily for the new port create on with loopmidi, just let the .exe for the VSTi you want open and start the game, also don't forget to go to the setup and tell the game to use midi.

I'm getting an error when trying to open SAVIHost using the default name. I've checked loopmidi and the .dll and they all match up in name. Not sure why it's doing this.

I dropped it a couple levels later when they want you to do a super precise platforming segment and return you to the beginning when you die. Horrendously ugly game with dull combat and middling level design.

Doom is garbage.

I beat this game when I was 12 and I don't recall having an issue with the lack of saving although I do remember the annoying sewer bit where you go through the pipe that pushes you back out to the start of the level.

>> No.7026521

>>7026441
Yes, a grave mistake. You weren't allowed to play with your fancy lightsaber just yet. First you have to pass the DF1 coming-of-age ritual, which is the Sewer Level Stress Test

>> No.7026583

>>7026441
No, they're both completely different kind of FPS.

DF1 is something in between Doom and Duke Nukem 3D.

DF2 is post Quake with 3D layouts and let's make everything huge because we can.

Honestly both games are just amazing in their own ways unless you're some sort of zoomer who's unable to put a game back into his time period when you play it.

Anyway DF1 does certain things better than DF2, for instance it has better more varied level layouts. DF2 gets lost within repetitive samey looking spaceship and space stations for the entire 2nd half of its length.

This game is not THAT hard to complete without your precious quicksaves. Literally git gud you pieces of shit.

If that's too hard for you, there's a Dosbox build with save states around somewhere
