Impossible since Sonic's fanbase is the way it is because of what the franchise is like and what kind of shit they encourage their fanbase to do. Sonic's fanbase isn't like that just by coincidence and Mario's could never possibly be that bad, the series is run well by Nintendo.

The fanbases are already fairly similar, if deviantart is any indication. And I don’t know what company management has to do with it. The things that weirdos happen to find particularly attractive about the Sonic franchise are really innocuous on paper (anthropomorphic animal characters appealing to furries, for example). 1. the core concept of the series isn't that ripe for OCs
2. Nintendo hasn't allowed Mario to be in cringey or embarrassing things very often and even when they have it's usually something they can dismiss as not their fault like the movie. People are less inclined to treat the Mario series like a joke, the stigma of being trash makes Sonic fans either become jaded assholes (like me) or full autists who cloister together
3. Mario hasn't had a game with a literal OC creator as a core part of its design
Also, for Sonic fans there are a bunch of different factions which all war with each other. Classicfags, Adventurefags, people who don't even play the games, etc. This is because Sonic has distinct phases which vary in style and quality. Mario has remained pretty consistent in terms of his image, personality, and public perception and the games have maintained a high standard of quality and aren't really able to be separated into phases besides how most of the spin-offs will be somehow inspired by whatever the most recent mainline game is
4. I feel like something about Sonic inspires people to get more hardcore about it. There's the stuff above but seriously how many hardcore Mario fans do you see? Usually when you talk to Mario fans, they're either literal children or they're adults who play a variety of games. Sonic fans are more likely to be obsessed with Sonic than Mario fans are more likely to be obsessed with Mario. That's just from what I've observed anyway
Anyway I feel like this is just scratching the surface of the logical reasons why Sonic's fanbase is so much worse than Mario's

Like what? I think of what Sonic fans do these past few years and what comes to mind is new games. I think of what Mario fans do and it's not a good look. Mario fans are terminally embarrassing with their behavior.

I would say the Mario fandom changed significantly during the 2010s. They suddenly acquired this weird obsession with things that never mattered before in the series, like their narrative elements, and the "creativity" of characters and settings. At first, it was just the Paper Mario fans, but now this mindset has extended to fans of other games in the series, including mainline entries. When Super Mario Galaxy was new, people shared their gripes on certain things, like the Prankster Comets, but overall, they still enjoyed the game for what it was. No one was saying shit like, "Mario's in space, but Tatanga doesn't return? Woooow, missed opportunity, Nintendo!" And don't get me started on the anti-NSMB and anti-Miyamoto crowds.

But really, Mario's and Sonic's fandoms aren't actually that different in terms of goofy and embarrassing silliness. It's just that Mario's seedy underbelly is ignored due to his games being good. You can see a similar dynamic with Pokemon.

There are absolutely parts of the Mario fanbase that are every bit as embarrassing as Sonic's, but Nintendo has never, ever pandered to them the way Sega kind of flip flops on doing with their die hard weirdos.

Also there's a difference between game mechanics autists and shipper/pervert/etc autists. Both series have the former with shitloads of rom hacks and documentation and such. Both have the latter too but for whatever reason Mario ones are less visible than Sonic ones. Also wanting to fuck princesses isn't as weird as wanting to fuck furries.

Also for some reason the Mario fandom just doesn't retain things like general threads the way Sonic does. I've seen it tried a few times but it always dies out. Not sure why that is.

Mario doesn't have:
-Complex stories that aren't from RPGs. Mario Galaxy is the only main game that tries to do something that isn't the usual bing bing wahoo.
-A long-running western comic book series
-Modern cartoons
-Interesting main characters. The only characters that have really good personalities are Bowser and Wario.
-Continuity. Outside of the Mario & Luigi series, there's no link between games.
There's almost nothing interesting to discuss about Mario. Mario as a character is a Mickey wannabe that's worse than Mickey himself, Nintendo doesn't want anything with the RPGs (a.k.a. the most interesting part of the series) and they don't have new cartoons or comics to generate interest.
