Speaking of boxxing, Rocky comes to mind on this. He doesn't even win but tries, such courage, wow.

The hearts are all about willpower and and virtues and things and they even have Rocky go left handed after all. Destiny calls to him and he charges forward and wins despite being pathetically outmatched and after initially losing. Such shit is what makes things easily epic. Typical. The mystery element is part of why the thing sticks. You're not meant to really trust it. Sometimes revealed, sometimes not. Allows for insertion while also just a mystery element. Depends on how it goes.

I've always felt Link had a sort of mysterious birth, almost like the Gods materialized him into the world to be the one that keeps Ganon from having a one-way uncontested experience in trying to rule the world. Like a hopeful figure that represents an extreme thorn in Ganon's side to force Ganon to EARN his role as domineering master of the realms.
