i prefer hyper speeder but youll have to try a few out, i like its high boost speed and tighter controls.

I've got a few:

>move your control stick gently instead of trying to match the pace of the race. Otherwise you risk losing traction
>the A.I. will boost to keep up with you if you're in 1st. Lagging just slightly behind until you're near the end is sometimes beneficial
>(for X and X Expansion Kit players) double-tapping Z or R while you're turning gets you around sharp corners much more efficiently
>Staff Ghosts will be unlocked if you're within ten seconds of them during Time Trials. If you pay attention to how they move, they'll teach you how to perform the "wall bounce" trick that gives you a boost in speed
You also shouldn't worry about tiers until you get past "standard", but just keep in mind about half the roster's vehicles are absolute ass,

The refill rate is faster than what you lose by boosting, but you're still burning fuel and losing out on the maximum amount you'd have gotten. And if you're going through a pit stop faster you'd be refueling even less. It's not a big deal in a lot of cases, but you honestly could be boosting in more efficient places besides those slight bends and straightaways.

I feel the need to point out f-zero fx's turning mechanics because the game doesn't really do it.

Pressing l and r at the same time will 'break' your machine's grip, which does allow you to make some tight turns. I forgot if there's an actual in game name for this technique.

Merely pressing l or r is called drifting and obviously tilts your vehicle in the direction of the respective button.

Quick turning, which is an incredibly important technique to master. It allows you to make very tight turns.
To initiate a quick turn, you press the shoulder button of the OPPOSITE direction of the turn. Then, you must immediately release the shoulder button while now pressing the shoulder button of the direction you wish to go in conjunction with the control stick being tilted in the direction you wish to go.

TIPS:

Listen to all the character theme songs because they are good.
If masturbating, try opening Mrs. Arrow's profile. This can unlock special features in your penis.
Play every mode on every difficulty level, because it's an awesome game.
Wreck other cars constantly.

Don't overlook X. GX is the better game, but X is cooler in some ways. I love the whole Heavy Metal/2000AD vibe that it has.

It's funny, GX was my very first racing game, so for years I was just under the assumption that I sucked at the genre. It wasn't until much later that I learned that it was considered difficult.

One trigger is slide-turn
Two triggers is a drift-turn

Hold A to charge your laser. You can also lock on to enemies this way. Use bombs wisely!
