Sonic Jam is a compilation title for the Sega Saturn. It has Sonic 1-3, and has the cartridge lock on capability of the Knuckles cart (ie, you can combine it in-game with Sonic 1-3, like IRL). Sonic Jam isn't emulating the Genesis games, they were programmed from the ground up, hence no emulation issues. As a result of the compilation being created from scratch, Sonic 1 has the Spin Dash, which was introduced in Sonic 2. Numerous bugs in Sonic 3 were fixed as well for the Saturn release.

In Japan, the Mega Drive got stomped hard by the PC Engine, which had a 1 year head start over the MD plus a larger install base. Also the PCE CD was widely supported, while the Mega CD didn't get nearly as many games in Japan.

In the west, it's the other way around. The TG-16 came out too late, and already looked a bit outdated to the Genesis, especially when it became known that it was using an 8-bit processor. Many games never left Japan, and few third parties wanted to invest in the TG-16. Not only that, but the Turbo CD died out within a few years, being a huge flop. Soon enough, it died out.

My CD drive's face plate is SNES-tier yellow due to its age, and I bet it still works. Haven't used optical media in ages though.

I guess this just proves that PC always got the superior hardware, then. I already knew that from an electronics point of view, but now it's also about build quality.

I suspect this trend is not going to continue in the future, though. As in, smartphones will start getting the best hardware instead. They already have the best screens already.

>> No.692912

>>692869
Of course, but I do experience much less trouble with slotloaders for the Wii, PS3 and WiiU than I do with the X360's shitty tray, which refuses to open once in a while. This is probably because Microsoft uses bad quality trays though.

For computers this is much less of a problem because you can simply replace a CD drive for a decent price.

>> No.692916

>>692880
What constitutes "the best" in smartphones is totally different from PCs. There's not much commonality of parts, either, like there is with consoles and PCs, since most phones are ARM-based.

Phone screens have higher PPI, true, but mostly because high-PPI displays become exponentially more difficult to manufacture and thus more expensive as they get larger. There's a reason the biggest commercially available OLED display is 13 inches; small-screen tech doesn't scale economically (yet).

For the most part, we say it because most people are either dumbasses, liars, or lying dumbasses, a few possibly trying to make an issue to get a free shit, and we have to weed them out any way possible so that we can solve the issue correctly.

We keep a good eye on our customers and try to get them upgraded as soon as possible.

Also, it's not usually the POS embedded Windows. It is literally Windows 7 or XP as in what you'd get for your computer, because a good number of our customers are basically running on desktop towers with touchscreen monitors with built in card readers, a receipt printer, and sometimes a cash drawer. We usually recommend this because if something fucks up, it's easily to get it out and swap it. All-in-ones are convenient until something breaks, then they become kitchen printer-tier assholes.

I've been wondering, is it at all possible to rig X Band to work like how people can get the SegaNet to work on Saturn and Dreamcast modems? I'm not really sure how the software worked on it, but it works off direct dial, doesn't it?

not likely, unless somewhere, in some neckbeard's basement, there's a backup copy of the server software

I agree but they should have americanized the mega drive to be stamped like the genesis. Mega Drive looks way too plain where as the Genesis is loud and makes me think awesome arcade action

Mother of God, I'm sorry to hear that. Was that experience recent?

They really should've made the 32x so it can stack multiple units. Sega would've had the first 128bit console on the market.

Yeah, and it wasn't just 3, either. Growing up playing Sonic games, it happened to me alot in Sonic 3, S&K, even Knuckles' Chaotix and others. If you read the Sonic 3 manual, it seems like I remember the bugs being dismissed as "traps"

That's just a side effect of sonic being blast-procecissingly, game-breakingly fast.

Not to mention, the jaapnese knew what should matter on the PCE CD

ACTUAL GAMES.

whereas the Sega CD got ruined by FMVullshit because of bad american aesthetics of the time, you know what i mean, the, GRAPHICS ARE WHAT MATTERS.

To be fair the Sega CD saw its fair share of Japanese FMV games too. Time Gal, Road Avenger, and Revenge of the Ninja (all actually pretty good "games" for what they are).

People were simply fascinated by Dragon's Lair (which also had a Sega CD port) and now they could bring that kind of "game" to people's homes.

The most note worthy games are ecco 1 and 2 CIB. I also got a box of old game cords for $10 and it had a justifyer in there. I got a game that uses that for the sega CD with that other bundle

I also got an SNES for $20 off him with cords (- AC adapter)

Here are some of the prices for Sega Shit I've acquired.

Model 1 Genesis, Model 1 Sega CD, 32X. All cabels even the one for 32X to Model 1 Gen, a copy of Sol Feace in the CD tray and all the RF shielding. $20.

3 Sega Genesis (two model 2s one model 1) 30 complete games, Gun Star Heroes and Kid Chameleon being the only note worth games (I wanted Gunstar Heroes and it was going for $30 at the time) all the video and AC cables. $30

3 Model 2 Genesis $15 shipped.

Sega Saturn $3 on ebay plus $7 shipping.

Sega Saturn $2 on ebay plus $10 shipping.

Sega Saturn with Netlink and 9 games, Tomb Raider only one worth mentioning. $30 shipped.

Saturn, Dreamcast, Ps1 all cables and one controller for each system. $25.

A Genesis and two 32X's all cables and ac adapters and several 3 button controllers. $15.

Most of that shit I got from a guy that sold shit on craigslist..he was the king of Sega and Nintendo shit and he was selling to me for a profit....I wish I got the killer deals he must have got but I still think I did really good.

Buuuuuut that was about 3 years ago when craigslist wasn't a steaming pile of shit. I wish Sega deals were still that abundant and cheap.
