I really liked it. Varied environment a military base, rainforests, mines, underwater palaces. I think it had excellent graphics for an NINTENDO 64 game and I liked the soundtrack. I also think the graphics were unique and also the weapons for example homing missiles they were able to program missiles that seek out target.

One of Rare's worst N64 games

Like a jankier version of gungage with mediocre combat. It's like Rare thought their busywork simulators and samey platformer design was a good fit for a shooter. It's one of those N64 games that looks like color vomit.

You're here 24/7 just waiting for someone to make a Jet Force Gemini thread, aren't you?

Console wars really were a mistake.
Anyway, great game. The tribal/ship part hunting is a legit criticism but not enough to bring down everything good about the game. I love the unique take on TPS controls, the flying Space Invaders-like enemy formations, the on-foot enemies AI, the different weapons (especially the plasma gun and the tri-rocket launcher), the cabal-like boss battles, and the music.
I liked this game more than any other Rare game on N64. This and Blast Corps (which also were made by the same team) were my favorites.

I remember this game being a massive headache for me to complete. I can't even remember if I finished the game. I might have got stuck at the palace level?

Sounds like projection from a self-admitted fanboy

Nah, I'm not a fanboy, I just think the game is fine. Gungage is also a good game. You can like both games, they're not exactly identical, despite being TPS.
You can't deny that's you having a hateboner for JFG/Rare, though. You show up in every thread that mentions JFG.

I'm just here offering a better alternative for those who were fed up with jet force busy work, I think of Rare the same way you might think of Zynga

>> No.6934836

>>6934831
You have a weird fixation.
Anyway, I don't think it's exactly an alternative. Might as well mention other TPSs like Syphon Filter or WinBack, but they're all different and interesting in their own way.

No, it's a disinterest due to lackluster games, you don't need to project your complexes onto me

Yes mizar palace was the first part of the game and then you had to collect the ship parts and the tribal. I admit I liked this game a lot but I had to use gamefaqs to finish it.

I think it's a little more than just "disinterest", you're definitely interested in JFG, even if it's on a negative light.

I merely saw a thread I could share the good word of gungage in with an audience open to the type of game, you have a very elaborate imagination.

Why not just recommend Gungage without doing your usual anti-Rare skit every single time?
I get it, you don't like JFG. You never really explained why though.
>colors
There's nothing wrong with the colors, the game looks great.
I think you could get more people interested in Gungage if, instead of shitposting JFG threads, you simply recommended it as a similar game, or better yet, make a thread for Gungage.

Many people find Rare's games exhausting, I am just appealing to those who share the same way or have been unsure what to call them.

Well, as I said, the tribal hunting/ship part hunting is a legit criticism, but I still think not bad enough to bring the whole game down. In the grand scheme of things, you only need to do that at the end of the game.
I also think the tribal hunting is actually kind of neat in a challenging way, because it often requires you to be careful in the way you shoot enemies, can't be too trigger happy. But the problem is that I think it shouldn't have been mandatory to beat the game. It could have been an extra thing for people who wanted to 100% the game, and maybe unlock some extra mode. The ship part is more of a drag because it's more cryptic, instead of challening. Although it still has some fun bits (like disguising as a drone and going into the club).
The good outweighs the bad IMO. If you don't like the game that's fine though, but it's a bit tiresome to see you pop up in every thread that mentions JFG and seeing you complaining about the "vomit color" nonsense. I like the way the game looks.

Get used to it, this is just how imageboards are. If it bothers you, stop using them.

Hah, ok. I'll give you credit, at least you take responsibility for your behavior. Most other shitposters would deflect and say "i-it wasn't me! it was another anon who said the exact same words I said" so props for that.

Regular forums are the same way. I don't see the point in keeping up a charade, I just talk about things that interest me - good or bad.

Even on a pseudo-anonymous Ainu seal-shaving forum, there are regulars. Stop asking for everyone's opinion if you don't want the regulars to chime in too.

i'm not the OP of this thread. But likewise, if you're going to give opinions, at least put some effort into them. Don't get mad when called out.

I always wonder if this game should have been developed for GC instead. The explosion effects and stuff looked really cool at the time. Violent dismembering is always fun. Everyone always complains about the controls but I just held R the entire time using the C buttons to move and thought it was fine.

Holding R to aim and move in all directions with the C buttons is great, however, you have to actually activate that control scheme on the menu ("Expert" control scheme), the default, normal controls only let you strafe from left to right while on aiming mode, which is why most people might have problems with it.

>There's nothing wrong with the colors
Not him. But there actually is something wrong with the colors. A lot of the textures are stored as black and white to save on space, then colored with crappy vertex shaders. RARE thought their plastic pre-rendered texture work was more important than smart use of color. They were wrong. Anyone who think this looks good need to be checked for color blindness.

There's nothing wrong with the colors. It has an alien-looking feel to it. Colorful and psychedelic. Also reminds me of some of the aesthetics in Nights (for example, the boss rooms).
Got any source for the black and white/vertex shader thing?
