I've heard the Dreamcast has a cult following. What are your favorite games on this thing? I only know about a few of the most popular ones, and I want to get into it.

I've heard it has a great library of Shmups, which are one of my favorite genres. But all recs are welcomed.

Have fun, anon. I recommend playing Mars Matrix, Gunbird 2 or Border Down if you're looking for shmups. Rez is also interestimg but it's more experimental than anything else.

Thanks for the recs man. In another thread someone told me that the Dreamcast is the best platform for Shmups so I'm looking forward to checking those out.

The whole chart looks fun, though. The idea that the dreamcast library is empty really is a myth.

It has indeed a really great selection, but I would extend that idea to arcades. The Dreamcast as a whole has a great library of arcade games, in fact that's the console main thing. The fighting and specially the racing games are really worth taking a look.

You've already been jpg'd or I'd suggest code veronica, legacy of kain, marvel vs capcom 2, and phantasy star and sonic and crazy taxi, but oh well.

I was never into dreamcast and psx had a legacy of kain and code veronica is a gamecube game and all, so....

Obviously it's no virtual boy nor gamecom. It's not a failed console of that degree. It had games.

But I really just wanted to bump because I was never into sega.

These are all decent and pretty much arcade perfect. I'd definitely add Skies of Arcadia and Jet Grind Radio. Virtua Fighter 3, Daytona, Virtua On, and Soul Calibur arcade ports were pretty good too.

Capcom Vs. SNK 1 & 2
Crazy Taxi
Dead or Alive 2
F355 Challenge
Guilty Gear X
Marvel Vs. Capcom 2
Power Stone 1 & 2
Project Justice
Samba de Amigo
The House of the Dead 2
The Typing of the Dead
Zero Gunner 2
Border Down
Ikaruga
Shikigami No Shiro II
Under Defeat

Last thing I played on it was the love hina game, not because it’s particularly good or anything, but I was a fan of the manga back in the day, and just wanted to see if the game added to the story in any meaningful way.

Just seems like the Dreamcast had no place in modern gaming world. The best titles are arcade hits, which was being phased out by that era.
