Resident Evil 4 aka Call of Resident Evil 1 marked the beginning of the end for true RE games, and as such, RE4/Call of Resident Evil 1 is NOT a real RE game. True RE games do NOT have roundhouse kicks, dedicated knife buttons, ammo/currency drops and vendors to purchase gear from.
Call of Resident Evil 1 was developed to appeal to a broader, and dumber, audience. By itself, Call of Resident Evil 1 is not a terrible video game, but it is a poor attempt at RE, and as such, is not a real RE game.
