og has the best ergonomics of any handheld nintendo ever/never made so i would say og with ips mod. Clam shell cases are horrible ergonomically though the clamshell gba is tolerable enough, maybe it's lightweight enough to not matter. The ds and 3ds have such bad ergonomics i get stabbing pain in the base of my thumb if I don't use a grip, i think it's because the flip screen makes for a top heavy center of gravity.

I have one and genuinely its quite nice. The buttons are great. The material made isn't cheap at all. This was a premium product to rival the then popular iPad nano. Ive had it since launch and its by far the most robust GBA I own, I own them all btw..
Its not my fav GBA, I just prefer the SP, but the quality (screen, buttons, build the works) is by far the best of the 3.

The GBA SP with the backlight is the best portable gaming console ever released. It's actually pocket sized and compact while still being comfortable to hold and having great feeling buttons and d-pad.
OG GBA was terrible. Backlight aside, the A and B buttons felt really bad, and usually for anything of the time I have rose-tinted childhood memories that give me positive impressions and a longing to go back, but even as a 8 year old I could tell the GBA was ass. I have an SP, but fuck, my hands can't handle that shit anymore. I love the aesthetic of the older Game Boys (and Pockets) too, but same issue.

Pic semi related: my GBC from childhood. When I was like 6 or 7 I went through a phase of trying to color everything. (I had a friend at the time with basically every N64 game and was jealous that Turok 2 was black, Rayman 2 was green I think, etc.) so I tried doing it with a sharpie on this and some N64 carts. (Doom 64 I, of course, tried to use red sharpie on). I actually managed to get the majority of it off with Magic Scrubbers, I'll post a pic if I can remember to.

DS Phat. You can choose between backlight or no light; there's no ghosting like the AGS-101 has; it slightly mutes the colors which stops some games that washed out their colors to correct for GBA screens from looking like ass unlike the DS Lite; Uses the same charger as your GBA SP unlike the middle child DS Lite's unique charger; Better hand-feel than the SP's small square body, while still keeping the clamshell design that protects the screen from scratches.

OH, and built in stereo sound plus a headphone jack. Not being able to play GBC games is really the only thing that holds the DS Phat back.
