Don't drift and don't hit the walls. You lose way too much speed if you do either in that circuit.

The expert difficulty is tuned a bit tight for the circuit: you won't make the last pass until the final lap. But on normal and easy you should have no trouble at all.

Was finally able to beat the race. The problem was I wasn't revving up to a higher gear at the countdown and I was also taking some of the turns too sharp and slowing down.

Maybe it works for bizarrely arcadey stuff like the Rush series, or zero g racers where you're moving so fast and the cockpit is so low relative to the track design you couldn't see anything, but games like RR are for first person only. Third person simply doesn't allow you to drive the best you can unless the camera is fixed directly behind the car with zero 'sway'- something that's pretty rare in games (I can think of the early NFS games offhand and that's about it) because for some reason most people -like- the sway. Hell, the original Ridge Racer arcade cab didn't even HAVE a chase cam, and was one of the machines that had a well-known 'full size' version with an actual Miata being used as the controls and a huge-ass projection of the game in front of it.
