">Crisp, vibrant, backlit screen"
">Decent built in stereo speakers"
">No annoying buzz when using headphones"

Is this the ultamate gba experience for those looking to play on unmodified hardware?

Doesn't the DS fuzz the GBA's image a bit?

There's still a gba thread up and for another that console you've posted isn't retro.

Also can't the gamecube play them on a big crt fag? They have a thing you can plug into the bottom of gamecubes.

If only the ds had great games (and was retro) then it could have been my fav console. As it is it can't even play original gameboy games so gba is better, thatn and it has better games.

>golden sun three
gag tier
>dawn of sorrow needing to use le demonic circles to beat bosses
gaaay

While I think the buttons on the og model are worse and I despise how it looks, I do find it's bulkiness makes it more comfortable to hold. It's a similar thing with the game gear.

>> No.6844761

the original was something special too because the DS was truly ahead of its time, so its neat to me to see all these features we take for granted now combined with the fugly, bulky early 2000s "futuristic" hardware. There was a lot of hype around the DS before it launched and it all centered around features most gamers had never experienced before, and the original bizarre design is emblematic of that era, at least for me.
the DSLite and DSi and 3DS lines all have a much more rational, common sense design which is objectively nicer, but makes them a little bit dull to look at and hold

That silly console. '''Boomers'''' hate new things for a reason. No good zelda even. Jewtendo with 3ds had to just remake a link to the past and now literally remade awakening and such. They're so dead. BOTW doesn't even have keys.

Yes. Though you're best off using GBI to launch the Game Boy Player since the official disc only does interlaced output.

Best way to play on the go is probably a backlit-modded original model.

I had a DSlite with broken upper screen. Took it out with all it had coming from it (yes, I sacrificed the speakers) and play gba on the lower screen with headpones plugged in.
So yeah, I'd say your way is the best way. Or my way if you find a ds with only lower screen working.

>> No.6845202

non-backlit GBA or frontlit GBA, every GBA game, especially those released before the SP were made with the fact that it was hard to see so they make up for it. If you play them with any backlit GBA it looks off. If you're using the frontlit GBA SP you're fine.

It has all the actual components since it has a DSi chipset built-in, which is why all GBA ROMs work fine when VC injected onto a 3DS.

You'd be better off with the release version of the ds since it has both a backlit and reflective option. As other anon's have said, it's also more sturdy, and the gba cart fits more flush to the console. Personally I just put an R4 and a gba everdrive in there and make sure to have the gbc emulator installed on it. 4 generations in one console. The emulator isn't ideal I know, but it's the best we're going to get for now.
Personally I set up my own ags 101 modded gba so that I could comfortably use the oem screen, but if you're going for a trip the ds is better.
