mario didn't shrink, the house is supposed to be giant along with the enemies that live in it. he appears to shrink when entering the strip of land outside due to graphical limitations

They assume the name is supposed to be ralated to Mario, most likely because he usually changes size and not the surroundings. Obviously both works. If micro it would mean Mario's size, macro is means the area/zone's size.

Nah it's piss easy, and I felt the same way when I played the game as a kid. If anything Wario's castle is harder, I always fucked up the timing of jumping onto those moving platforms and the trap doors that trigger the fists falling always got me too. Wario's first phase is easy, the second might be hard if you're careless and with adult reflexes the final phase with the fireballs is piss easy. The game gives you power-ups between the phases too so that makes it even easier.
The weird cloud + Tatanga is way harder in retrospect, simply because people might lack shooter skills and fuck that up.

Offenbach wrote it, its a can-can (style of music) written in 1850 or so. Mario lands are great. Original super mario galaxy space levels and hippo snot bubble world was my favorite.

Macro and micro could both apply. Micro in the sense that Mario shrunk and is in a small world. Macro in the sense that because he is smaller, the world is bigger. It can go both ways

The castle was a great final level. Just the right difficulty. Wario was pretty easy though. The hardest boss by far was the 3 pigs. Not least of all because they took 9 total hits to beat, 3 on each pig. The final phase was brutal. It really throws off your muscle memory since it's better to dodge under the pig instead of above it like the first two.

I find Super Mario Land2 so depressing. Something about the world and atmosphere is so off and wrong. Anyone else noticing that? I never was able to enjoy it. The game is just designed very wrong in acoustics and visuals.

Nah it's appreciated about as much as it should be. It's way too easy, short, zoomed in, the physics are pirate game tier, and the music isn't anything special. It has some weird zones though, doesn't it?

Land 1 is vastly superior because it has a better sense of scope and its own identity. This one just felt like a World bootleg.

I much prefer it to 2, 2's bigger sprites and level design never really grabbed me. SML also has some of the best music in the series. Shame nothing about its ever been revisited, Sarasaland was a cool location and it would be fun to see some of the characters like Tatanga and the Sphinx in spinoffs.
