Survival horror with crazy monsters roaming the streets except you are just a cameraman, there to film events for the news. You can spend the game focusing on filming 3 different "themes" of events. Do your job properly and film the monsters and various things that count as the exciting theme, linger on the people dying and horrific stuff or choose the reason 90% of people bought this game and focus on filming erotic things such as upskirting your news girls or sneaking in on them getting changed. Its not just filming though, you do walk around the environment and interact by aiming the camera at things of interest and having your current news girl investigate it.

Its not as interesting as the various elements may make it sound. Please check out a video first before trying it.

That was PS3, only reason why you wouldn't be able to use Linux on a later PS2 is the lack of HDD support, but fat PS2s are still usually under $100 when factoring in eBay prices, and often $20 or less if you can find them locally.

People were so pissed when the patched out support, and if you downloaded the later firmware, even if you had a system that was originally compatible, you couldn't use Linux on it anymore.

PCSX2 is literally the only one of note, however, unlike PCSX4 that you mention here
(>>6825939), PCSX2 is 100% legit, and has been in development for quite some time. https://www.pcgamer.com/ps4-emulator-pc/

Yeah, they were trying to piggyback off the name of a popular emulator to sucker people in looking for a PS4 emulator. There actually is a somewhat functional PS4 emulator that's in early stages though, but the only game it appears to boot is an indie Robotron clone.
FreeMCBoot allows for some pretty interesting things, since it allows you to boot unsigned code on demand, from any storage device you can plug into the PS2, including USB drives. I mainly use it to play games off of an HDD, but you need a fat PS2 for that, or a mod for early slim PS2s. The alternative is loading games from a network, which is hear is also pretty good, or loading them from USB, which is slow, and I wouldn't recommend it for the majority of games.

I don't know about weird but the reversals in this game are still some of the most fluid i've ever seen in a videogame, its also one of the rare fighting games where moves actually have an oomph factor and don't feel like the characters are hitting air.

Th 5th gen had more experimental games, the 6th gen was the last gen where they still tried and there was still a strong japanese industry.

Ps2 was the most sold console of history, so you had an enormous market, almost the whole console market without counting portables, to sell practically anything. Developments were a lot cheaper too.
It was crazy how Ps2 was seen for years as the casual, mainstream console, while having almost all the niche hardcore games.

I ironically found that game sealed in a backwoods redneck pawn shop. The owner called me up and said, "I got one of those weird jap games, I know you're into that shit. Come down here and it's yours." He didn't even charge me for the game, he just wanted the foreign 'shit' out of his store.

Ka (Mr. Mosquito in US/Europe) is not on the Gamecube. Both it and its Japan-only sequel Ka 2 are completely exclusive to the PS2.

>you cant 'hack' a ps2 unless it was one of the super super early ones

How true is this? I have a 'modified' PS2 up in the attic that i bought in Thailand when i lived out there. The console is the original fat PS2 and i purchased it not long after they were released in Asia. I never owned an original game for it, all my games were backups and copied games that id bought from Bangkok. I was buying like 5 or 6 games a week because they were like $3 each.

you can't load PS2 games off it's USB port without long ass load times and FMV stuttering like crazy. You can however, get a $30 travel router with a USB port, plug it into the ethernet port, and basically use it as a USB 2 to ethernet adaptor, eliminating these issues entirely and making it indistinguishable from a HDD setup except for the fact that you can very easily drag and drop the games, swap/expand the storage, and use it on a slim PS2. You can even power it via the onboard USB port, this isn't even a conversation, it's easy af and way better

>you can't load PS2 games off it's USB port without long ass load times
Only for some games.
So far I've tested
Okami
Crash
Tekken
GoW
FIFA
Loading times are not bad.
What games you had issue with?
>get a $30 travel router with a USB port
Then I'd just use my router.

>> No.6840758

>>6840743
the appeal is that it acts totally independent of your home network, it's really just a compact USB 2.0+ to ethernet adaptor, but if you can get an SMB setup going with your main router you should. you might not care about FMV stuttering or longer waits/pauses bringing up menus and stuff but I do and so do a lot of other people, i don't think a $30 piece of hardware to remedy this counts as "retarded" or overdoing it.
