Games for gameboy/gameboy colour you would recommend owning a physical copy of.

On the side:
> Do you still have one? If so, what color?

> What games did you enjoy?

> Do you still play it today?

>> No.648594

Kid Dracula, Links Awakening, Wario Land(s), Survival Kids, Revelations (the SMT game), Dragon Quest Monsters, Dr. Mario, Metal Gear Solid, Harvest Moon

Those are the best. Also I want to stick the internals from a color into a grey.

My original? No. I have a Black GBP and Atomic Purple GBC
> What games did you enjoy?
I played a lot of Pokemon mostly when I was a kid. I had a NES and a N64, that got most of my gaming love. Gearworks too. I played a lot of Gearworks.
> Do you still play it today?
Yes. More than then. I am playing Gargoyle's Quest right now.

Power Quest is a great fighting game with an excellent soundtrack. I doubt it is too sought after and should be pretty cheap to pick up.

Yes, I have two. My origional gameboy and a color that's the same as OP's pic. I've had them for a long time.

> What games did you enjoy?
Galaga & galaxian, millipede & centipede, frogger and origional donkey kong. The only color game I own is super mario deluxe. These are all my games I have, I planned on getting more but was a poorfag, still am.

> Do you still play it today?
Sadly no. The origional stopped working and wouldn't turn on so my mom got me a gameboy color for my birth day. I don't play my color anymore because a few months ago the up button on the d-pad wasn't responding and made playing some games impossible. I still play my games on my gamecube with the adapter but it's not the same. I wish I knew how to fix them but I can't bring myself to throw them away.

Link's Awakening is seriously overrated. The game just gets irritating to play.

You have to fuck with your inventory on every other screen, because they tried to cram LttP gameplay onto two buttons.

Fucking EVERYTHING spits walls of dialog at you. ("THIS COMPASS HAS A NEW FEATURE..." "OH, WHAT A STRANGE OBJECT!")

Map design is just fucking obnoxious. Eagle's Tower and Turtle Rock can suck a dick.

I really don't understand why this game gets so much praise. LttP is a vastly better game.

Man, the Gameboy is such a fucking awesome console.
Nevermind the great library of games it has, but because it's built on a modified version of the Z80 processor, it's also really good for starting learning assembly in, since you get the whole package.
Plus, thanks to the homebrew scene, you can use it as a musical device as well.

Being a brutal chiptune warrior, I sit hunched over my Gameboy for several hours a day. I love it.

Still can't believe this thing was released back in 1989, and people are STILL coming up with new shit for it.
Kitsch-Bent designed brand new replacement shells and is apparently currently making new daughterboards, which'll certainly make some of my broken DMGs useful again.

Gameboy, man. Fuckin' Gameboy.

Preferably a sandable one

You'll need 1 can of your choice of color paint, 1 can of clear coat with the finish of your choice and painters tape, preferably 3M green painter's tape.

Shield off the logo on the upper portion and the labels on the lower part. Start sanding till you get a nice smooth finish then hit it with primer--then re-sand to another smooth finish.

Use the Krylon paint, light coats or you'll make more work for yourself and re-sand after first coat. Apply next coat and wait for it to fully cure. Once cured, use the clear coat and once dry, use the appropriate high grit sandpaper to get rid of any bubbles/runs/orange peel

Ice Blue GBA is the only one I have now
First gameboy was a red play it loud original gameboy which I smashed the screen on my forehead in a fit of 5 year old rage at donkey kong land. Then I got a Clear play it loud gameboy and treated that one like gold until I got my gameboy color. I was playing Donkey Kong Land on it one day outside (dont know why I wasnt playing it on my color). I wanted to do something else but didnt want to go put my gameboy in the house and I had a better one so i just left it by a tree stump under a brush pile and I left it there for a year and it got snowed on and rained on. I really wanted to play donkey kong land again one day so I went out to where I left it dried it out and it worked perfectly my old saves intact and everything. Then I sold it for 5 bucks because I had the atomic purple GBC too.

Guys, I think my gameboy (DMG) has a problem.
Every now and then, when playing, the speaker goes cracky and starts playing static, and the power led flickers in time to the volume of the crackles. Sometimes it crashes when it does this, and just shows a blank screen until I reset it.

I'm guessing, from my absolutely minimal knowledge of electronics that this is a voltage issue, as this only happens when it's running from batteries (And yes, i've replaced them to be sure I'm not just using bad ones)

I own a yellow Play It Loud! DMG, which I modded a yellow backlight in to. Looks fantastic imo. Also have a transparent pocket, a turqoise Color, and a tribal GBA.

I don't even play the GBA much. I still play Link's Awakening every so often, and some tetris... But the intent is to get a flash card and do some LSDJ with the DMG.

I was worried about the same thing and I was between a micro and a pocket, but finally decided to try the pocket and well, I've been playing everyday for a few weeks now and I dont find it problematically at all. But ok, my roof has a a couple of big windows and with a lamp at night you do need to make an extra effort... I checked also the backlight thing but shit looks quite complicated and the ones for sale are as expensive as a gb light.

If you want the have the actual gb then why not just get it and play when you have light and switch back to the sp at night?

>> No.680272

I'm sure all of these have been said before but;
Wario land (all of them) links awakening DX, SMW2, and obviously if you like em pokemon R/B/Y and G/S/C. Monster rancher, legend of the river king and harvest moon I would recommend too.

I still have my grape GBC and my wife has the atomic purple one. I play mine all the time at work and stuff. The wife is doing a nuzlocke run of pokemon red after I told her about it a few days ago, she's having a blast.

well, I ain't saying that one cannot engage in collecting regular stuff, nor trying to make him stop.. I mean, that's fine I don't really mind about what he DOES, rather about what he SAYS he does.

It is as if someone who is not a musician but likes music buys a guitar, starts playing with the guitar, calling what he makes "music", and puts this at the same level as the music of a musician who plays the guitar.

So, he is not playing guitar but playing with a guitar... which is not a crime, which can be done, but cannot be called music.
