before the new rules, there was no age limit on games for retro platforms, which made things like actual release of Star Fox 2 retro (if you consider the snes classic a snes, and not it's own platform), while now with the 2007 cut-off, Star Fox 2 is not retro, because while it's a snes game, it a non-homebrew release beyond 2007, which is against the rules

The main difference outside of discussion is that the board is a little faster now (it goes slow again someday), sure slow threads are not a thing for now, but that dosen't mean that "old-/vr/ was comfy and glorious". It had shitposting and off-topic discussions before the rule was the thing, remember the thread about the inventor of catriges? It went full /pol/ because of a nigger.

This board rarelly gets discussions about obscure shit outside of nintendo and sega, romhacks, shrumps and doom is also a thing. I was making pro wrestler thread and i almost never got replies even i try to bump it while FF7 remake thread got like 200 reps.
Also, 6th gen threads are usuarly do talk about video games than what /v/ do, i saw like 3 threads and it still manages to talk about their shit, sure here's these autists with "not retro" and "grampa", outside of that, it's not that bad.
