Was superfx chip more powerful then 32x?

>> No.6749603

I think Virtua Fighter on the 32X shows that it is not. Way better frame rates, far less dithering, etc.

SVP is stronger than the SuperFX and the 32X eclipses the SVP. What do you think?

32X is better, nothing on the SNES touches Darxide, Metal Head or even Shadow Squadron in terms of graphics.

No. Not even close. Just compare Doom on the SFX2 vs Doom 32X.

Not a real comparison. The SNES demo is drawing polygons from a list of coordinates (625kB of data). The Genesis demo is drawing prerendered frames (2705kB of data). The former is much closer to what an actual game would have to do.

the intro is considered pre-rendered sprites on display due to never having to change active angle (sense you can't control camera) its sad that theres slow down at all during this display. still my favorite intro to this day.

Possibly an unwarranted opinion here, but I honestly feel like battle frenzy and Virtua racer both looked better than super FX games, and neither of them needed 32X to function.

SNES had better games at the end of the day, because Nintendo was better at doing business. Genesis/Megadrive had the more advanced hardware, hands down.

Virtua Racing Deluxe is so good. Its exclusive tracks still haven't been ported too.

I'd rather play Star Fox 2 than any 32X game. Except maybe Virtua Racing Deluxe, that game is really good.

The only thing better about Genesis was its CPU. Everything else from color palette to sprite size capability was inferior. And I know someone will apply some whatabout-ism and will post some Genesis game that will look really good. Never said Genesis games can't look good. Just that on average SNES produces more graphically superior games.

Its slowdown was really its biggest drawback.

SNES runs between 256x224 and 512x448. It's just that most games were 256x224 because higher resolution would result in more slowdown.

>sprite size capability
it's not like you can actually use 64x64 sprites in a SNES game when only 272 sprite pixels can be drawn per line. 95% of SNES games used only 8x8 and 16x16 sprites, while genesis sprites could freely take any dimension needed (they weren't locked to square shapes unlike SNES). it could also draw up to 320 sprite pixels in a line to match its larger resolution.
