I traded my double Super metroid for a 32x(with power and av cable) Would you say I traded a cookie for a dog turd?

>> No.671881

If you're a collector, then it was a good deal since 32X's are hard to come by with cables.

>> No.671890

I guess if it was for a trade of a game you have a double of it's not a bad deal.

The 32X is a neat novelty with like three good original games: Chaotix, Kolibri, and Tempo, as far as I can think of, and some really good Sega arcade ports: Space Harrier, Virtua Racing Deluxe, and After Burner II. It's not nearly as good an add-on as, say, the Sega CD is, though. Had really great potential (The scaling effects the 32X allows the Genesis to do really put the SNES' mode 7 to shame and looks fantastic, for instance) but just never got used properly. It's a shame it got so few arcade ports, since it was literally perfect for it. We might have finally gotten a decent port of Thunder Blade had they cared about the add-on more.

I rarely ever hook mine up, myself.

>> No.671884

Well, Super Metroid is one good game, but the 32x has like two good games, so I guess it was a trade up.

Yes, because the cables are the hardest parts to come by. I hope you have 32X games, because if you don't, you bought a piece of shit.

Don't forget the best version of Mortal Kombat II.

Eh, sort of. It's basically a much better version of the Genesis port but it still has issues. A lot of the animation frames missing from the Genesis version are still missing in the 32X version and the colors are still a little more washed out than they could be. Like, instead of making another port of the arcade game they took what they already did for the Genesis version and added extra features to it. I guess compared to the Genesis and Super Nintendo versions it's the best of the three but it definitely could have been handled a lot better.

I do like that it keeps the Matt Furniss soundtrack of the Genesis version, though. That's always been my favorite, even more than the arcade's music.

I was simply referring to the fact that it's the most complete port of the game that doesn't have load times. I defer to you, though.

You could always go for the combined models like the X'Eye or the CDX. They don't sound quite as good as the Non-TMSS Model 1s or early 3/4 motherboard model 2s, as both the X'Eye and CDX have really low bass, especially the X'Eye, but they sound leagues better than the bad full motherboard model 2s.

I've had nothing but trouble with my CDX, though. The laser was dead when I bought it, got it fixed, worked for a year, now it's dead again. The X'Eye works like a charm, though. Either way it's a cheaper solution than finding a working model 1 Sega CD these days.

Not even. The SNES version has better graphics and better sound. And it doesn't even suffer from overly slow gameplay, like MK 1 did. Everything the 32x MK 2 did, the Sega CD could have done (and better, since it has CD sound).

>> No.673729

Sega CD already lets the Genesis do crazy sprite scaling. The 32x is a fully legit 32bit addon, which can output more colors, better graphics, and even reasonable 3d. Its a pointless one, since it came out after the Saturn was already released, but its way, way more powerful than just a few scaling tricks.

>Sega CD already lets the Genesis do crazy sprite scaling.

Yeah, but at the cost of the framerate going to hell, at least as far as I've played, whereas the scaling on the 32X usually keeps everything at 60 frames per second. Like when you get hit in Chaotix and the rings give a pseudo-3D effect by going in all directions with some scaling towards you and falling down. Kind of took me by surprise when it first happened.

I know it could do other things, especially the color output; I'm just saying the sprite scaling looks really nice and was used to great effect.

Or, or, or EVERY game is lock-on compatible and you can browse your entire library of games without having to swap cartridges!

Stand sold separately, of course.

>My own self-contained Sega Channel!

>People have to bust holes in their houses in order to keep their Sega collection growing.
>No new consoles are ever released, just lock-on hardware upgrades.

>carts are released that support multiple lock-on connections at once

>angular multicart lock-on adapters allow people to build houses out of their Sega Genesis collections
>the homeless are shunned into regular housing because they cant afford the cost of building a house out of lock-on carts
>people eventually begin to bridge the gaps between their lock-on homes and we find ourselves with an ultimate network filled with every game on the planet

This was the future.

>all technological progress is adapted to lock-on
>eventually, we terraform Mars using Sega Genesis lock-on technology
>yet, the main menu for the cart selection screen is still limited by base Sega Genesis technology
>its the main menu from the 6-Pak

That song from Columns would've been the anthem of humanity.

>ultimately chains of cartridges lie around towns, houses are interconnecting and personal sharing networks come about
>sega releases one last cart
>RCR Sega Joint Networking Device
>one person locks it in to the missing link, and connects all carts together. Town to town, city to city, country to country, country to country and continent to continent
>Our genesis' glows brightly, the orange power LCD shines, and we find ourselves joined, together as one, one mass of genesis, one mass connected by the primordial system, the genesis.
>Unified we stride together as a unity.
>We connect, planet to planet, solar system to system, galaxy to galaxy

And it all started with a blast. The Genesis.
