Diddy Kong racing did it best. What other racing game has an interactive hub world n also allows you to fly planes. Not to mention, also allows you to play as conker.

MK64 for being more like an actual go-karting game, the others are more like adventure racing games, especially Diddy Kong Racing with its planes and water hovercrafts. Not bad, but I prefer the more tight go-karting experience of MK64. Also it has my favorite mini-turbo input method.

Diddy Kong has the best graphics and single player mode.
Mario Kart had the best items and gameplay/feel.
CTR is just kind of meh.

Never played CTR but DKR is superior to MK. MK doesn't look very good and is boring to play alone. DKR has boss races and a neat hub world with areas to unlock. MK has 16 tracks and that's it.

Shamefully, MK64 is the first (console) game I ever played, and I love the feel. It will always be my bottom bitch.

It’s been too long since I’ve played DKR to give a fair assessment, and I don’t think I’ve ever played CTR, what makes it so popular?

I also unironically like Sonic R. The janky controls are half of the fun.

Also DKR has the thing where you redo all the levels while collecting coins or some shit. Gives it some extra difficulty.

Sonic R's better when you view it more as a speed running collect-a-thon than a racer. It's way to short and the controls aren't the best, but the the exploration aspect of it is nice. Short but sweet

>Sonic R is a wonderful new 3D racing game which offers real speed and action. That hasn't happened before. Sony aren't doing it on any of their games - particular Crash. And Mario is not doing anything at that speed.

If CTR had flying, it would be #1.

I never understood what is so great about MK64. It's a fun game, but both DKR and CTR did it better.

Sonic R's controls become a lot easier to understand once you know that the game was originally designed as a more traditional racer with stock cars instead of mascots running on foot. Learning how to drift with the shoulder buttons improves the game 1000%. It's honestly not too bad

Diddy Kong Racing and CTR are both pretty good in my book, if only because they have actual campaigns. CTR has more personality, tighter gameplay, and consistent framerate.

Mario Kart 64 is the classic, for better or for worse.

Sonic R confused me, then terrified me (I was a young bab) once I unlocked the Tails Doll and looked it up.
