I'm going to try Baroque despite it only being in Japanese.

that's fair, as it too is a jam.
how did you receive (as a player) the mechanics of leaving/ returning to levels and what not- interesting, no? cant think of many other gens platforms that do that off the top of my head

>> No.6701556

>>6701547
It's a nice way of connecting different levels, gives you a bigger sense of exploration. And if you go to a level you can't still progress any further because you're missing an item at least they allow you to fly back to the very same place so it's a nice compromise. But as I've been playing this game since I was like 6 I never stopped to think about it really.
When I was younger I would get stuck at the viking ship because I would usually run out of lives/continues going around the ship not noticing you had to use the plungers on one of the walls to find the exit

i thought so too anon.
i see, for me, an associate of mine had it as a kid so i was only exposed to it infrequently. never saw past the desert level. however i felt it inferior to castle and or world of illusion (which i owned) took me till later in life to appreciate it.

it shines like a diamond next to fantasia though.

played maui mallard yt?

Yeah I had the double cart Quackshot+Castle of Illusion because PALland and always prefered quackshot. And yes I'm probably going to try and finish castle of illusion next, I think I got stuck at the queen of heart's stage as a kid but I'm not sure.

I remember Castle of illusion being slightly unsettling. Was it just faggy 6 year old me or do you think the game really has some dark undertones to it?

it looks nice but has mixed reports on game play from what ive heard, however don't let that put you off investigating for yourself.

yeah i can feel that, i think some of rthe musical /thematic elements can pair nicely together with the low fidelity of earlier titles on the MD to produce an eerie quality, esp. as we are sensitive to those emotions as children.

at least IMO
