Are you currently playing any games featured in the challenges?
Has Arino inspired you to try (or retry) any of your own challenges?
Which retro games do you want to see Arino attempt in future challenges?
Which episodes have you watched recently? Which episodes are your favorites?

They’re called reikyaku (or netsusama) sheets. They relieve fevers, migraines, tension and fatigue.
They allow Arino to push past the limits of human endurance to unleash his full power.

Could still be metal. They might add a ”ル”.

They've only done one Neo-Geo game, so Metal Slug would be cool, and although its in almost every fucking tamage segment, it hasnt been challenged yet.

Metal Slader Glory would be cool, not much is known about that game in the West.

The Famicom version of Metal Gear? I dunno. If they were doing MGS on the Playstation, which is possible but unlikely, it would probably span at least two episodes.

I don't think they'd cut it off at just "meta" if it were actually to be "metal". It doesn't seem like it would make sense. Who knows, though.

There's a slight chance that it could also be メタルマックス (Metal Max), a series of RPGs that was released by Data East.
It'd be interesting to see Arino tackle this one, the freedom of Mounted/Unmounted battles, with tanks and other stuff a la Xenogears makes this game quite entertaining and hard.

>>662831
I want to believe this as another option, but one can never be sure.
Sure, they say Metafight to abbreviate 超惑星戦記メタファイト (Chou Wakusei Senki Metafight), but they do the same with everything (Super Famicom = Su Fami, Smash Brothers = Suma Bura, etc). "Meta" is just narrowing the search on a still-large sea of opportunities.

If he did Silent Hill, it would be the newest game he's done in a Challenge, unless you count that one episode where he did the PS2 Angelique, but that was not a normal episode. Came out in March 1999.
I'm actually surprised they did OoT, but maybe they made an exception for it due to the significant impact the game had.

>>662951
He has played it before, another game he mentioned in the Capcom Special. But what you said about him forgetting seems extremely likely. Also, don't they actually stage quite a bit on the show? Not saying that everything is staged mind you, I know a lot of stuff on the show is genuine.

Just how big is AKB48 over there?

It's incredible, on the F-Zero episode when Arino goes to the candy store and the old man (who must be around 70 years old) has a favorite AKB girl... just wow, everyone in Japan is into them, every fucking one.
Then the 2nd part of F-Zero when Takahashi and Arino go to the store and start trying to get that one girl's poster... they paid for all the other posters too I'm sure... they're totally nuts.

I know, Japan, etc... we have our good share of putrid shit in the west too, but I don't think we're as homogeneous as Japan when it come to social phenomenons like these.

On a related note, I found it strange that they had a marketer on board when they met the developers of the second Arino DS game. Over here in the Western world, we regard marketers as sneaky salesmen whose intents are purely exploitative, and if their work works to our benefit, it is purely coincidental and met with suspicion. No, it doesn't. The first difference is that in the West there is a pretense of quality. In Japan there isn't. Things are being consumed because they are designed to be. The second difference is that pop-music consumerism is a socially accepted activity spanning across all social groups. Western pop music is DESIGNED by marketing to antagonize people and divide social groups. 18 year old guys complaining about Justin Bieber fangirls are just as much a cog of the marketing machine as the fangirls who obsess about Justin Bieber.
And obviously pointing out cultural differences is going to be ethnocentric.

Yeah, it's an interesting thing, since generally when a man gets married he 'steals' his wife from her family (her name is erased from her family register and added to the husband's), so some older men kind of poke fun when a man gets 'stolen' by a woman. It's usually when the woman has no male siblings and the man does, that way her family name continues as well.

Also, gay marriage still isn't legal in Japan, and 入籍 refers to when you file the paperwork to be legally married, so there's no way he could get married to a man.

I wanna see him play Gokujou Parodius. They'll probably give him the SFC version that slows down all the time and is comparatively "izo-modo" to the PS1/Saturn port. I want to see him say something like "what the hell, the geisha's head just blew up!" or commenting that the mermaid boss looks like Pamela Anderson or something. And he'll choose his character based on certain thins, like "I'll be the flying pig because my wife says that I eat like a pig!", or if the SFC version with 3 extra characters, he'd say "Oh! True, but games with limited continues show off what Arino is truly capable of. They could actually record him playing his last try and beating the game without using a continue. He can do that, it's just that infinite continue games are just terrible.

Unless they're Ninja Gaiden.

>> No.689809

>>689745
>True, but games with limited continues show off what Arino is truly capable of

He failed Final Fight because he couldn't make it to the final boss, even with the number of continues raised. He failed Ultraman because he had trouble defeating that final boss and then he only had time for one try at that last part.

And that quiz game he had to raise the number of credits, put the game on easy and even had to use 2P joining to double the number of continues to make it.

On the other hand, Super Mario World has pretty much unlimited conitnues, but the ending was quite intense because the time limit made it so he only had one last chance to defeat Bowser.

So as >>689729 said, it's pointless since even if he runs out of credits he'll just start again. Also, even if the game has unlimited continues, he still has to deal with time limits.

Getting his ass kicked by SMB3 was bad, but I'm going with failing +100 times against SMW's Bowser. I mean, what the fuck, every boss in that game was a goddamn joke.

If not that, two of the bosses he got stuck on in Gargoyle's Quest II can be defeated by LITERALLY RUNNING INTO THEM WHILE JAMMING B. But I think one of the ADs had trouble too, so maybe there was a lack of oxygen in the office.

He has kind of a goofy image from the show and from his comedy work, so that's how they drew him.
