I remember when the Game Boy Color came out. My dad didn't believe that it was possible. Every time I would try and explain why it was better than my Game Boy Pocket he would say how he didn't think it was real or possible.
I kept showing him magazine ads for it and he thought maybe it was a gimmick, and it only had a few games built in, like old "color" LCD games.
He just didn't understand how a color dot matrix display was possible.

It had exclusives. To be fair though it has a ton of licenced garbage on it, even more than the original gameboy. Probably because of all the kids that had one for pokemon

Funny thing is only one of the Pokémon games WAS color.

Despite the boxes, Gold and Silver were OG GB games with color upgrades. They weren't color games any more than Black 2 and White 2 Gen 5 were i/XL/3DS exclusive games just because those three had extra features for them.
