To be fair Super Mario Bros. Deluxe is a bad example given that it was meant for GBC's dull screen without a backlight. Its color palettes are not applicable to regular screens.

The playchoice-10 palette aside from that one yellow that ruins SMB3 is still the best palette period.

NES console modded with playchoice-10 RGB PPU gets my vote and retains the purple sky.
