Armored Core has a very different subject matter but has a similar feel in the narrative breadcrumbs, oppressive atmosphere, variety of builds.

Baroque for the Sega Saturn. It's getting a port for the Switch soon (at least it better be the Saturn version) and will hopefully be translated. There is a PS2 remake which besides not being retro is also very different in tone and feel, in my opinion more anime and worse.

Lunacy (Torico) for the Sega Saturn. It is not an RPG, but an FMV adventure game, and yet I always thought it had a similar feel to Dark Souls. Mysterious shady characters, solemn and melancholic atmosphere, good people trying their best, dark twists and turns and horrible fates, mysteries to unravel. I'd recommend games like this (and other adventure games really like Riven) if by feel you mean the narrative side of it and less so the action (since of course there is none haha)

Unless you want to buy a physical copy then it's abandonware. You can still find the GOG versions on some sites, but the OpenGL renderer with that doesn't work properly. Better to just download it from myabandonware.com and set it up with nGlide.

The main issue with the OpenGL renderer is that it makes the fog way too heavy in some of the levels. You can find a mod to fix that, but apparently it also reduces the fog too much. There's also another issue where the game can sometimes crash or corrupt a save if you're looking at some light sources when saving with OpenGL. I haven't noticed any problems with nGlide and the r3Dfx renderer though, so I'd still recommend just using that.

I'm almost positive you haven't actually played Dark Souls to completion if you think the first 20 minutes are representative of theme. DS is a pretty straight forward fantasy setting. It's got sun, valleys, verdant forests, crystalline caves. Jesus, got me baited pretty bad 9/10
