For a 4 open socket regular shield you have to wait until Hell difficulty since only Monarch, Aegis and Ward can have 4 sockets.

You want to be checking all the pally shields for 'all resistances +x', higher the better. They go up to +45 all res. Then use the socket cube recipe and hope for 4 sockets. I wouldn't use the act 5 socket quest on a spirit shield, save that for later socketing unique items or what ever you think is worth it. I feel spirit is too cheap to do that.
If you roll 2 sockets, making a rhyme shield is a pretty good option as well.

The 2H TLDR barb guide in the guide section of the fourem is about one of the most brain dead ezpz new ladder starters, and was one of the ones not nerfed by the physical damage reduction nerfs coming in 1.6 (Pally and Asn are getting hit the hardest on this, but it was kinda deserved).
I usually play that build since its really easy with just tier 4 uniques to get all of the boss trophies up to the level 120 ones. After that though I usually will roll something else and transfer the trophies+runes+etc over to the new character.

I made a Sacrifice+Prayer(Cleansing for actual use) and Damage Reduced build. After carrying me through nightmare, I had to switch to a standard Zeal+Fanaticism build since getting enough Damage Reduced against uniques and rare mobs was nearly impossible, resulting in things like 95% of enemies unable to damage me and a small fraction nearly obliterating me.

Has anyone else made a Damage Reduced build? It's really useful early on for sure (Safety crafted items really make a difference throughout normal and most of nightmare), but is it possible to get some use out of it later?

My only suggestion would be that you not stack up so many unspent points when playing through normal. This guide says it predates 1.13, which I believe is when they implemented Den and Token resets.

You can put several points early in firebolt and go deep in fireball since they are part of the build. Fireball is top kek in normal. During the 20s, save about 8 points for lvl 30, when Orb, mastery, and 6 prereqs come in. Level the Orb 30-50, extra points from quests go to mastery.

What's a good single player build that's tanky and don't have to press many buttons to play?

Bowazons are fine; you can clear hell with much worse builds.

Bowazons that rely on physical damage require stupendous gear. This is true of all physical damage builds, but it is especially true of bowazons, who can only do passable physical damage with top-tier weapons (usually wf with a faith on an a1 merc). They're a great twink build, though, and are a ton of fun to play. I wouldn't bother unless you've already got the gear to do it.

Frost maidens (bowazons that principally use freezing arrow) work much better untwinked. They're not fast - you will need to find a solution for CIs, and usually that means making something like harmony - but they're well within the range of builds that can reasonably clear hell untwinked.

With all that said, compared to javazons, bowazons will always be quite underpowered. There isn't really anything they do better. It's a fun build, not an optimal build.

Cold build is the way to go and to get around Cold immunes just use Strafe or something.
It's not as bad as people say it is, but in all honesty it's the worst of the ranged/mage builds, but still better and faster than any of the melee builds.
It'd be ranked above Summonmancer if it had more survivability, but Summonmancer being basically impossible to kill short of some bad luck places it slightly higher, despite taking longer to kill shit.

You can get all the way to Hell simply by walking across empty maps from shit being 1-2 shot by the aura. There's a decent Unique great sword that's +6 to holy fire, and an easy runeword that adds +3 to holy shock, try to find a scepter that already had some holy shock and you're good to go. Slap on a spirit shield and Lore helmet and you're good to go.

The LCS display for missile damage is bugged in that it pretends fire/cold/lightning/poison skill damage applies to weapon missile damage, but it doesn't. Which of these fixes to the display would be ideal?
>all weapon damage missiles display the average of every damage type combined, instead of a damage range (so if you deal 1-1000 lightning damage, 52-55 physical damage and 2-4 fire damage, then the display would show: 557)

Note that option 2 would prevent use of the bottom of the display, which means skills like Exploding Arrow have to have their explosive damage added to minimum and maximum value, instead of being displayed separately as is the case in vanilla (so if you are using exploding arrow which deals a +10-20 fire damage explosion, then the 55 over 1059 would become 65 over 1079 instead of 55-1059 over 10-20).

They are. d1 can also be played as localhost LAN or whatever, and the multiplayer version of the game is a bit different, supporting nm and hell diff. Pretty sure d1 bnet is accessible w/out cdkey, but I can't imagine it being anything other than a ghost town

If you want d2 bnet but have political disagreements with present-day blizzard, the d2 item sellers have databases of cd keys for sale (need a classic and lod key). These sets are cheap because most keys through this channel have been sold by different sellers in the past. Bad luck if one of the old purchasers is active on bnet. I have been about 75% lucky with the 8 sets I got over the years for botting.

Diablo 2 is addictive but the actual mechanics suck ass. I was obsessed with D2 for years but eventually you come to realize that the game is little more than a bunch of identical tiles with awkwardly placed shrines and chests every 30 feet and the only joy comes from repetitively running the same tired areas over and over in hopes of getting gear with minor incremental improvements. Darkstone is more like an actual adventure and has so much more depth and opportunity for funny situations. Being able to Rob NPCs, forrags for food, repair my own items, etc. adds a dimension of depth that D2 never achieves because the game isn't about an experience, it's about slot machine gameplay that is all filler and no substance. If you've never actually played Darkstone then I implore you to actually try it and see how much more interactive and mysterious it is. It's like Diablo and Gauntlet Legends had a butt baby and the result is, IMO, a game that's better than D2.

As much as I am shitting on it, it is still pretty fun so far. Definitely nowhere near Diablo 2 though. I think your problem is that you blew out your dopamine receptors by thinking Diablo 2 is made for grinding, and not instead playing different mods and builds with the goal of beating them and not grinding them. If you had instead decided to waste a comparable amount of time grinding on Darkstone instead of Diablo 2, you would have blown out your brains a fraction with a fraction of the time spent.

Summoner is only supposed to be trouble in classic, where the skeletons do not scale right for Hell and you lose all your minions between acts.

How? He doesn't even regenerate. Just town portal on top of him, go to town then go back through the portal, then immediately spawn a clay golem on the opposite side of your skeleton stack, then follow with Decrepify. Re-cast the clay golem every time it gets hosed/firestormed to death. If you want to make it extra easy, give your hireling some cold damage.

If you play /players 1 and don't grind you will fight Duriel around level 18 or so. In that case the trick to beating him is to spam Clay Golem in his face and perhaps Iron Maiden to help him kill himself, but it's still a tedious battle. With Decrepify Summoner has no problems against any bosses whatsoever but people default to only using Amplify Damage for some reason.

Jesus. Max raise skeletons first with single point in skeleton mastery, then max skeleton mastery second. When available, one point in clay golem and summon resist, one point in decrepify and prereqs. Do whatever you want with the rest of your skill points. Buy a 3/3 wand from Atma at level 1 for like 5k gold. Decrepify act bosses, amplify damage everything else. There, you've beaten the game on level 42 or whatever.

If people are really that scared of playing actually fun characters untwinked, then I would suggest making a blizz sorc. Then farm nm andy/meph/diablo (blizz destroys the chaos sanctuary) until you can make a strong act2 merc, then you can get through hell. This will be way faster and more fun than a summoner. Also, that farming will yield plenty of gear that you can then use to play actually fun characters like amazons and barbarians.

Poison Dagger build is actually a lot of fun.

Hurr durr the FPS bypass feature comes together with the CPU fix, but the newer maphack also had the CPU fix integrated. All I had to do was use an older MH version that doesn't have the CPU fix. Running at 75 fps at 75hz refresh rate now through glide and it's great.

yeah thats one of the things i like about diablo, is because of the RNG item system it is totally possible (though rare) to get incredibly overpowered Magic items that make even Uniques look like trash.

I dont play online but I reset my PlugY stash/characters every ladder.
Start of this ladder I rolled a Paladin for a change, though I usually start with a Necro or Sorc.
First fucking wand that drops is a +3 raise skel +3 skel mastery.
5min later I get a +3 raise skel preserved head.
just a pity I cant put 2 slots into the wand to make Bone runeword, cuz the item lvl is too low.
