Did Nintendo offer a discount for naming games after the console or publishers saw an opportunity to not think about a tittle.

Same with how every SNES game had to have Super in their title.

This, and a ton of stuff released in the year 2000 had 2000 in the title as well.

If the N64 version flopped (very likely) the devs could make proper numbered sequels on the PS1

If the thread is about Nintendo, you can count on him being on it.

It was more of a gimmick in the early days of the N64 lifespan.

By about 1999/2000 you didnt really see "[x] 64" titles anymore.
As >>6593686 says it then became "[x] 2000" for a brief period.

Or GBA games having "... Advance" in the title.

in japan, Bomberman 64 is called something else that translate to "Explosive Bomberman". so maybe this was a north america thing?

Calling anything "X 64" is dumb cause the sequel would be "X 64 2"

What if your game was called Sixty Four? You'd have to rename it to Sixty Four 64.

Do you think we'll eventually get a Final Fantasy 64?
