These games always fascinated me. But being in french, couldnt play them. Arent they zelda likes?

Zelda-like? No. I think the only actual zelda-like Dragon Ball games is Shen Long no Nazo (aka Dragon Power on NES, with changed sprites).
Super Butoden 2 is a fighting game with an interactive/sort of VN-ish story mode. You can play it even without knowing french or japanese, although you'll miss on the story. The first half is the Cell Game (which might follow the canon story or not, depending on what happens when you play, if you lose or win certain battles and who you choose to play as), then the 2nd and 3rd parts of the story are original stories featuring movie characters (Boujack, Zangya and Broly)

Also yes, several of the DBZ games on that system are Zelda likes

This game had a fantastic soundtrack. Wasn't a huge fan of the actual fighting though, but the story mode was great.

The actual fighting is pretty fun too, although it's better with turbo mode.

The best retro DBZ fighter that we never got is Tobal but with DBZ characters.
Every other game I've tried is stiff as fuck with Final Bout being absolutely wooden.

Super Butoden 2 and 3 are really good though, as is Hyper Dimension. Buyu Retsuden on Mega Drive is also cool. The thing with Super Butoden/Buyu Retsuden is that you need to enable the turbo mode.

To play devil's advocate for a bit, while I agree that SB3 could have had a proper story mode, it's not like the story mode in Super Butoden 1 or Buyu Retsuden were amazing really. It was just a standard arcade mode with some mild character dialogue before battles. Butoden 3 does have the dialogues before battles, it just doesn't have an arcade mode. You can still play against the CPU in the player vs cpu mode, and you also get an ending credits screen (with awesome music) when you finish the tournament mode.
It was only Butoden 2 that had that awesome story mode full of cutscenes and different locations and interactivity with different outcomes and endings.
Butoden 3 gets too much shit for not having a story/arcade mode but the gameplay is just as good, or better, than Butoden 2 even. Outside of a few nerfs that I don't like, the game was otherwise an improvement over Butoden 2 gameplay-wise, making it probably the best Butoden to play in VS mode, or at the very least on par with 2, and much better than 1/Buyu Retsuden.
As for the roster, as I understand, the Butoden games were made alongside what was going on in the manga/TV series in real time, I think by the time they were developing Butoden 3, Toriyama was still working on the Buu saga, that's why Butoden 3 is only up to Dabura/Fat Buu, and doesn't have any of the fusion characters, or Super Buu. But honestly, I'd rather have characters like Kaio Shin and 18 instead of more saiyans, they're fun to play and add some variety to the roster.
Obviously it was a rushed release, and of course I'd love it if they did what they did in Butoden 2, with a polished story mode, and even if they didn't have more Buu plot to advance the story, they could have done what they did in SB2 and make up an original story with movie characters, but all in all, I still enjoy Butoden 3 for actually having good gameplay on par with 2.
