While starting as a kid would more effectively build a long-term confidence in self-learning and solving problems (instead of waiting for someone else to teach you), you can do it at any age. Whatever hobbie you have, you can use it as a starting point to learn a skillset if you dig deep enough, specially when it comes to art and tech.
Fan art can be a starting point for professional illustration.
Fan fiction can be a starting point for serious writing.
Even creating video memes will teach you the basics of video editing, motion graphics animation is just one step further.
Game engines and modding/romhacking can be a starting point for actual coding.
Scripting and automating simple task can also lead to the basics of coding.
Experience building PCs and home networks, and above average basic tech literacy overall, while not much by itself, is an advantage in many types of office work.

Just pick any of your current hobbies, and go deeper.

You overestimate the "good enough to get paid" level. That only means being able to produce something that solves a specific client's problem or requirement. And clients come in all sizes, including small business or communities who can't afford or don't need someone/something as developed as you'd think. Worrying about being competitive comes later, way later.
It's impossible to be good at something BEFORE you start screwing with it. If anything, the pressure of being good blocks you from having fun with it.

>>6592992
You're here, so you at least like videogames. I'm not saying everyone who likes games is a potential game dev, but it could give you hints of what fields to explore depending of what side of it you like the most (the technology, the art, strategizing, telling stories, creating immersive atmospheres, designing spaces, organizing teams, building or being part of online communities, etc.)

If you don't see yourself as capable or willing to get into any field at all, you might need to see a psychologist to find out what mental patterns are blocking you out.

There's a demo already if anyone's interested: https://gamejolt.com/games/tropicaliagame/426618

When I was about 13, my parents let me have the old family computer in my room, but it wasn't allowed to be hooked up to the internet.

All I had on it was this, MS Paint, and a couple of pre-installed games that came with the computer. When I was like 17 or something, going through the "I'm not a kid anymore!" stage, I threw that computer away. God, what I wouldn't give to have a copy of the game I made back then.
>Titled "Lost Fantasy"
>Game about a plucky main protagonist whose village is destroyed by an evil, long haired villain who wears facepaint trying to become a god
>Depending on how you proceed, you can get a big boob witch, a black guy with a gun, or a clown kid in your party
>Game was very poorly balanced and events made no sense. I'm pretty sure there were tons and tons of cutscenes of exposition, but with no hint or direction as to where you should go
>It wasn't finished, but it did have an end. At any point you could go to a mountain by the starting town and go fight the villain who was some ridiculous level who autokilled your entire team unless you were level 99 across the board.

It would have been a goldmine of autistic lolcow shit if I'd saved it.

That's not the problem. The problem is that there is practically nothing to do outside. At all. You are expected to fork out money hand-over-fist to be literally anywhere, and many kids in this world are subjected to criminal harassment and abuse which gets the toned-down word "bullying" applied to it. This is just part of the mental issues caused by parents refusing to be parents, teachers feeling threatened by harmless children "questioning their authority", and the 24/7 doom-and-gloom news cycle.

It's a mental health crisis, and people just pass it off as "moody teenagers" and only burst into tears and whine about how we need to do more when a "moody teenager" hangs himself in his bedroom, then they go straight back to the 24/7 doom-and-gloom, wealth porn, and lashing out at little kids for things that wont matter in the next fifteen minutes until another one kills himself or shoots up his school. Rinse, lather, repeat.

Stop passing the buck you lazy cunt.

He's a medal of honor, gta, loving tier normalfaggot and also probably a moderator or he'd be banned by now. That anime tier nerd he doesn't get along with and finds them weak ergo the normalfag gene activates and picks on the weak entity based on his high school memories of stereotypes. People like him force le katana 'edelord' fedora memes thinking they're funny when they're just being faggots over literally nothing. Really, it's an anti-progress conservative gene to have activated. Hence why he went as far to jab about trans stuff.

If you see. It makes sense now. Ignore them and report in the future or we'll have years of the equvalent of fedora tipping every time a fun looking anime tier game gets posted that only 'weak left winger types that are open minded and also peaceful' would like.
