The infamous PS1 version of X-Men vs Street Fighter is so bad, it actually has 3.62 rating Gamefaqs, and the game has never been officially re-released in an arcade perfect fashion

Let's hope Arcade1up does the job right

The only thing really off with the Saturn port is that the resolution is 352x224 instead of 384x224. The playable area is still as though the game is running at 384x224, the point where things go off screen is just a little closer.

I actually used to own the PS1 game because a guy I carpooled with knew I liked fighting games and said he wasn't playing it. Loved the shit out of it, being a blissfully ignorant casual doing my best in a poor neighborhood where there was definitely not a machine for it anywhere near me.

Let a guy I barely knew borrow it a few years later and just didn't bother to ask for it back, if that says anything about its quality. Shit fucking port, now that I know better, but I wish I would've held onto it, partly because of nostalgia and partly because it's regularly seen going for $60 these days. Definitely a good bargaining chip at cons since there's very little reason to hold onto it other than "gehehfehheh rare" and it only holds value to those types.

You can play the arcade original now, so why care about a port? Besides, all Arcade1up does is make MAME cabs. They aren't making new CPS1/2/3 PCBs, they aren't making small system boards using Allwinner A13's and loading MAME on it. It's the same emulation you could get by hooking a controller to your PC.

More and more I'm convinced that people don't care what hardware they have, only how the case looks.

They're about on par with the Arcade machine, the PS1 just uses the higher quality voices than even the Arcade for most CPS2 ports. That said you can get better voices and sound effects in X-Men vs Street Fighter on Saturn by holding L+R when selecting audio options.

lulz.
>>6579741
That's true for most arcade port minus console based hardware like the Capcom Sony ZN's, Namco System 10 to 12,
and Taito FX and G-NET.
Every single on those hardware are better on the PS1 thanks to better sound and more content.
Even worst, Tekken Tag, Soul calibur, Kikaioh/Tech romancer get blown away by the home version cause they are technically PS1 games ported to Dremcast and PS2.
The rare exeption would be Bloody roar 2 which use a customized version on the daughter board and make the game look better. but You will still miss every single additional content of the PS1 port.

IMO This stupid idea of using Home console hardware for arcade was the main reason for killing the market.

Why not appreciate it for all the console exclusive features and modes not found in the original. You can just use MAME for the "perfect fashion" if that's what you are looking for. Considerations were made in the console port to cater for a home audience with longevity.

Greetings. Those are some of my most favorite CPS2 games. I am jealous, I wish I could afford to have the real arcade boards to play too but I have to settle for the ports as that's what I could get. I think there is a mod now to cure the suicide batteries on those too now, a "flashcart" for CPS2 as well! Looks like there's at least one more at the bottom there, which I cannot make out. Very cool.

>>6587865
Yes, exactly, it is still there for those who want to play that way. In addition to all the exclusive modes and features not found on other versions makes it more worthwhile to have. It may look bad, but once people get into playing it, they won't really notice and have fun.

Nice collection you have there anon, Cheer to you too. it's always nice to see saturn games enthusiast.
I have others CPS2 games, like Loop master, Dimahoo or puzzle 2X. And I am getting 2X and Gem fighter soon.(but corona is making things complicate)
Infinity key are amazing tools to save a dead CPS2 games like my Capcom vs Marvel the one you can't see in my picture.

In the other hand , Multiboot systems like Darksoft solution are definitly not my cup of tea.
That not different from a flashcard like you said.
Personally I sold mine and my Naomi netboot cause I tend to get less dedication by switching games offen.
I am sticking with original hardware and individual games by cabinet, I do rotation sometimes between my 4 cabinets.

the only noticable extra is a the training mode. everything else are shitty modes trying to make it look like you can swap characters. like playing with you opponent character as a 2nd character.
PS1 missing a lot of frames and background animation. those missing frames make it also broken as you could chain hyper and super .
