>>6581080
who knows, but if its using a x86 cpu, it definitely has potential for more emulatable games than your average ARM device. like the one all other minis have. but if it uses a higher tier ARM, it can still be a nice system.

i do like M2's work and yeah, its almost sure Sega hired them for the project.

however, the thing is, implementing VF in this, would be a port, not emulation. same with all other 20-something games, and that is not practical, they CAN do that, yes, but making 20 games almost from scratch is not practical, they have to use standard emulation, and ARM devices never had optimizations for hardware like the Model 1 arcade.

Well this mini is more expensive than other ones of somewhat similar size, probably based on the extra hardware. Making a bartop of that size would take the price from 12800 yen to probably 3 or 4 times that. Not to mention how much shipping would go up.

If you're asking the point of the mini console fad entirely, well companies realized in the 90s that classic game collections were appealing, and Nintendo proved with the nes version that if you do it in an easy all-in-one package that looks cool/reminescent of the original, that it appeals to people that liked the original. In the case of Sega, they seem to like making teeny tiny ones. No doubt helps their bottom line. Ultimately it comes down to appeal; it looks cool and it might be worthwhile for the games selection.
