turns out the game is just really well designed, which is no mystery since later I went to find out who made the game, and it's NAZCA, the original designers of metal slug before they were bought out by SNK

Tiger is very unrealistic but super fun. Never played on xbox but did play GC and PlayStation. GameCube stick made it too easy to hit straight every time.
But as far as retro goes, I my whole family used to play the shit out of Hal’s hole in one golf on snes.

I've had a few golf games over the years. The Hot Shots Golf games are great. 3 on the PS2 and the PSP ones are my favorites. They're quick and snappy while maintaining that complexity. They're just a small step up in complexity from Neo Turf Masters to be honest, not a huge leap, you'd mostly just have to get used to the slightly different version of the 3-click system. The Hot Shots Golf games I've played also have tons of content and shit to do and collect.

Sid Meier's SimGolf is the only golf game I ever got into.

In terms of execution, Neo Turf Master is one of the best designed games ever made. When you play it for the first time, it's almost instantaneously apparent that this is miles better than any other golf game. I once spent an entire summer doing basically nothing but playing Neo Turf Masters.

As someone who hates golf and picked this up after hearing one of my buddies going on and on about how awesome it is and watching a few of his videos, I couldn't put this one down as soon as I played it. This is simply the greatest sports game of all time, the greatest Neo Geo game of all time, and one of the greatest video games ever made. Just an all around masterpiece.

Tiger woods 2004 or 2005 for ps2 or original Xbox is best. Avoid pc versions. They are the perfect blend of arcade fun and simulator. 2006 and on were still good but got cheaper in the way they looked and felt. It got worse as the ps3 and 360 versions started to come out. Those leaned more on realism which was still cool...but not as cool as '04 and 05. Only differences is 05 has a mechanics added to have more control on lift while 04 had better fantasy courses.

Theres a game that came out a few years ago called RPGolf that has16 bit graphics. Combines golf with rpg elements. Not great but I want to finish it.

The Game Boy "Golf" is one of my favorites.
After playing games that hold your hand for the whole game, you should try your hand at one that doesnt. It's an interesting experience.
