Backwards, while sliding down the wall in X3 is the ultimate god tier.

Fun fact, in MM4 and MM5, if you slide jump through the door, you'll be closer to the boss when the battle starts. If you do it in low gravity environments (Dive Man and Star Man), you'll be right next to the boss.

Funny enough, they commented that they did try to keep the float through doors things going on, but a technical problem with the way the game is now coded made it too difficult to pull off exactly as people expect it.

i like to try to get the very last frame of mega man ending his jump animation a pixel off the ground for the classics. in 7 i switched up between sliding from good distance (feel the speed as you rush into the boss room) or a nice hefty jump since megaman feels a bit heavier in 7. for x games its usually >>6541517

It was mentioned in one of the promotional Q&A after the demo was released. YMMV on the "too difficult" part. My guess is it did require some extra work out of their planned schedule and that was enough to leave it out.

I'm a somewhat experienced indie dev and even I could do shit like that. Often those issues come from physics, and they're most likely using actual physics for the vertical movement. You can still disable that shit. Disable physics when the door transition happens, move the character forwards, wait until transition ends, raycast up and down to check if character is overlapping with anything, move down or up depending on the overlapping, enable physics.
