Theres an OG xbox, Amiga cd32, 3do, master system and another ps1 obscured behind the tortoise enclosure. All the cartridge systems have flashcarts and I've got my eyes on the GC loader and MODE for the others. Not sure about the PSIO yet... During lockdown, I've got a gscartsw on order and upgraded all the cables to rgb packapunch scarts from retro gaming cables. The difference is night and day compared to the composite crap I was using. The top 8 systems all have wireless controller options now, apart from the DC, N64 (using a brawler) and GC. Any news on a 3rd party wavebird??

Cant complain about the controllers. They feel good and I havent noticed any lag.
The one speaker is for a surround set-up linked to my main tv. I don't have room for other speakers.
The crystals are only fair as the rest of the house is filled with my guitars, vinyls and games. She can have this small space to call her own haha

It seems all the set-ups that get called comfy would smell like a 40 year old rug. I find hordes of mario figures and amiibos cringe... and dusty. I tried to mix the old with the new here so it doesnt look out of place in my modern lounge.

I need to fix the convergence on my CRT. Got it for free a few years back and the picture is pretty decent. I'm sitting in a computer chair. I need to find a recliner or some shit. In the closet is my clothes and misc hardware and games I need to put on the shelf. But I may just pull them all off and use the shelf for actual books and other cool stuff as I dont really care about physical media beyond the stuff I currently have, and plan on getting flashcarts and other misc piracy hardware.

Nice NEC, i have a similar tv model CT-2510A. I use mine for gaming. I’ve tinkered with the picture settings a lot and have it as good as I can get it, really like the way it handles composite. And the glass pane is stylish, though I removed mine so I can lower picture and brightness a bit to prolong the life of the tube.

Only thing left is to maybe adjust focus on the flyback one day. I also might clean the picture adjustment rheostats.

4chinz rotates phone photos sometimes, something about how user data is stripped from the photo when posting which can cause the picture to rotate.

My NEC doesnt have a 3.58 trap or multiplex audio. What year was your tv made? Looks like it's in great condition externally.

As far as I can tell mutliplex audio was what the Japanese called stereophonic audio broadcasting when they developed it in the late 70's, pic related. So TV multiplex audio was likely for TV broadcast signals with stereo separated audio L & R.

A few Sony PVM/professional monitors had a 3.58 trap, sounds like it might clean up the composite signal a little. Their manual says this about the switch:
"3.58 (MHz) TRAP button (NTSCass only)
This button can be used to eliminate the dot interference to the luminance signal appearing between colors in the horizontal direction, which is one of the characteristics of the comb filter."

Mine was made November 1984. I bought it from an estate sale not too long ago. The person who owned it also had a bunch of recorded VHS and CrO2 Cassette tapes. Who ever owned it had quality hardware and it was well taken care of. However the picture isn't perfect and I wouldn't be surprised if the set has a bunch of hours on it.
I tried to see if there was a difference with the 3.58TRAP switch on and I couldn't tell. I appreciate all the info though. Interesting on that multiplex audio.
I have another question if you don't mind. Does yours have a monitor composite input like mine? I can't figure out how to access that input to display. To be honest, I'm not sure if it is a display input. It has a monitor output on the front behind a panel too.

>> No.6523536

>>6523478
Figured out monitor is just an output. Kind of a duurr moment. It seems video 1 out is just composite pass through and monitor is whatever is being displayed on screen.

Definitely interesting about the multiplex audio. My guess is there was a rush from tech companies to get their patented form of stereo audio TV broadcast to dominate the market. Seems like MTS Stereo won that race.

My tv was made in '85. It has a TV out (likely like your video one out) and a monitor out. I've never messed with them, cool to know the difference between the two, thanks for sharing.

Mine likely has a lot of hours too. It’s a neat tv and oozes style, but mine likely has a lot of hours too. When I first turned it on and hooked up a video source I was not impressed. Spent a good amount of time dialing it in and now I really pleased with the picture. This is close up, but sitting several feet away (and after several beers) it really looks great. Just like my wife.

I resized the image because the original was too big to post. Looks like it lost a lot of quality. Trying again with a different method.

Here’s the picture settings I have. Certainly your mileage may vary, but see if it improves the image at all. One thing I’ve noticed with this and another tv I have with rheostat picture knobs, once you’re happy with the settings, very gently nudging the tint knob will often clear up the image slightly. Try both directions clockwise and ccw, as long as it doesn’t affect the color too much.

I also recommend using a short, shield cable for video. I’ve only tried a handful of different types but the best I’ve found are from Audio Research. Bought a set of 3 ft cables on eBay. The two audio cables and the video cable look the same, but you’ll immediately notice the video cable is stiff compared to the audio cables due to the extra shielding.

Here’s the back of the 2510A. Also worth noting - my CRTs from the early to mid 90s have issues related to capacitor failure, yet this NEC and an early 80s Mitsubishi tv I have appear to have no capacitor issues.

The most entertaining part of this thread was watching multiple anons completely lose their shit over the term "vaporwave lights" due to the sudden embarrassment of seeing a thing they've actually spent time and money on doing get called out for what it actually is.

Mine was the same way. When I first hooked it up, the picture was pretty bad. I ran 240p Test Suite in a PS2 nes emulator and calibrated it about to what my D-Series showed and I was impressed. The only thing wrong really is linearity and some overscan, but it's not really that noticeable on VHS playback.

>>6524479
You know what my picture settings are actually pretty close to that. The adjustment knobs on mine don't have that little notch though.

I really should make room for my 180watt Realistic Stereo Reciver made by Fostex Japan and my Kenwood 5-Way Speakers and blast some mother fucking PC-Engine Chip tunes with it. Hook up some Sapphire with my Briefcase and Arcade Pro Card. And then a little Lords of Thunder. Maybe i'll even commit some heresy and hook in my Pioneer SG-9800 Stereo Equalizer.
