It's funny you post an image of Dragon Ball. In both instances I had to come to accept there's no accounting for taste. Some people just hear shit differently than you do.

My first exposure to CD was with the Burgerland music but I played Sonic 1-3 a lot before then so maybe that colored my expectations of what Sonic music 'should' sound like because the Japanese music sounds far and away better to me in all instances except maybe Tidal Tempest.

Bad take because MM present JP is pretty jamming (though I like US present for different reasons. A shame it doesn't have an "extended" version like the Nilsen tracks).

I much prefer the JP/EU OST but the US OST has a couple bangers.

JP OST was much more energetic and up-beat.
US version had nice ambience but it really doesn't fit a fast-paced platformer as well as the Japanese version.
