For me it's Super Metroid and Zero Mission. For you it might be Spyro, TMNT IV, or Resident Evil 2. We all have those games that hit us at just the right time in our lives that we'll never stop replaying. Does it make you less excited about new releases?

Thief 1. It helps a lot that the spooky levels get way better the more you play them, although I still have a hard time stomaching Escape. I also play Thief 2 immediately after but it feels like it's missing something.

>For you it might be Spyro
Actually from Insomniac it's Ratchet and Clank. Spyro's good but you can only play it so many times.

I have a theory a lot of games wanted to sell guides, so they started doing this shit. I remember Nintendo Power (is that still a thing?) had a ton of secrets and shit in it.

honestly the exact places where the game puts filter puzzles and the way that everything single one of them just feels like a huge fuck you if you look them up, because you obviously could have figured it out if you didn't get tricked, it's just legendary, it's the kind of shit you talk about

that some people don't think a game is allowed to mislead them though, that's fucking hilarious

It's Ninja Gaiden 2 for me. Considering that it can be completed within half an hour, it's easy to jump in whenever and wreck some demons. I've played it up and down, backwards and forwards. Back when I thought being really good at a tough game impressed people, I used to show off by beating the first level without looking at the screen, or playing through the game using my toes (the NES Advantage really helps for this challenge.) It's been over a year since I've played it, but I know I'll probably be back to it sometime. The only other game I've played as obsessively was Resident Evil 4, but that's not /vr/

>> No.6499567

Super Metroid, Sonic 3/Knuckles, and Mega Man X for me. With MMX I feel like it's the most "perfect" a game in any Mega Man series has been that manages to avoid some of the major flaws others have...

I feel like there aren't some dreadful parts, there aren't really glitches that plague some of the older classic titles, the boss weapons come in decent handiness if you know how/when to use them outside of boss battles, the power up upgrades intrigue you and inspire you to search for them and aren't too cryptic, and it's a fair difficulty. It's going to be hard to a noob who just isn't familiar, but the game rewards your effort. I know the game so well, it's an absolute breeze for me to play through that offers no challenge at all, but it once did, and me being able to pwn the entire game is my reward for playing it. I haven't forgotten how Sigma made me sweat the first time I ever played it, makes it all the more satisfying to kill him with ease.

Pic related, senpai. It's the undisputed king of sci-fi immersive sims and will never, ever be topped. HR the rest of the franchise nailed the gameplay aspect, but completely missed the atmosphere, plot, etc. They tried to emulate it, though, so as a result they just feel like knock-offs with better graphics.

But there are two immersive sims that I'd say surpass even Deus Ex in my P.O.V.: Dishonored and Dishonored 2

No it's not. Literally everybody who says it sucks are "zoomer posers" such as >>6499467

Faggots who never played a game that requires you to find the power ups on your own, and suck so bad they consider Ridley a hard boss. All people who hate SM hate it because they couldn't beat it or figure it out on their own, which is really pathetic, because it's really not that hard of a game to anyone who grew up in the SNES/Genesis era, it's just a time consuming game that requires your brain to have not been rotted by tik tok and quicktime events.

No. I'd rather just find that config file, though I'm sure old forums would lead to 404's so I haven't put much effort into it.

That and I'd want to play the original. It's probably not that hard to alter the config. I don't have the game downloaded right now anyway as I keep my files small in their sum. ISOs are huge. It takes me all day to download a gig and my 'father' would be pissy the entire time due to bandwidth issues. One of the reasons I don't download something is if I don't KNOW it can be used, and pc games would be iffy from le pirate gay. I didn't see an original Deus Ex with also a crack nor mention of config being altered so oh well for now. Nor did top duckduckgo results show me anything akin to what I needed, so I don't really care. I mainly come here to talk to people, not solve problems. Right now a poor on my nose is bleeding off and on for no reason so I can't concentrate on anything else. I have awful hick genes.

But thanks anyway. The bandwidth issue is my core problem with not being able to just 'try' things to see if they would work out. If it doesn't often, I get defeated for listed reasons.

GOG takes care of all that stuff. It's compatible with Windows 7/8/10, so you wouldn't have to worry about whether or not it would work. You don't have to mount anything on a virtual drive, it's very "plug and play". If there is an issue, there's an attached forum that gives fixes to the most common problems. AND it's only 524MB.

I'm 31 and the only hard part is that bullshit bridge part, of which, I looked up nothing. I had to look up how to find Terra in FF6, to walk through the well wall in OOT, looked up that sort of bullshit but Super Metroid has actual conveyence that's piss easy even for retards like me. Another thing I looked up, Palm Trees Of Eight, in that first secret of mana game, the final fantasy named one in English. I look up things only when I've been hit by a solid wall of bullshit with a puzzle.

Also, I remember looking up what to do in Legacy Of Kain, the angle was bullshit so I didn't see where to jump. Also also, technically I grew up with people that played the very first NES zelda in front of me so my beating that, no save states on an actual nes cart, didn't count as a win for me either. Snes Metroid is a win though.
