So is it at least decent or should I not even bother? I want to play original SNES hardware on the go if such a thing is really possible.

Is there a better alternative for playing SNES/SFC carts on the go?

Just emulate on your choice of portable. Hyperkin makes cheap garbage.

I got one. Dpad is trash, and it eats up the battery too quickly. I sold it, the person who bought it from me regreted it too.

Literally anything.

its a fun thing, but dont think you're playing on original hardware.
sure the carts are original, but whats the point if you're running it on a clone?

i mean, it doesnt bother me. but dont use the word "original" and then use this thing.

In fact, any recent emulator will be more accurate than this trash.
The only benefit I could see is wanting to continue on the same savefile you're playing on your actual console, but unless you're in the middle of a long RPG, there's very few games where savefiles matter all that much.

If you're determined to buy a piece of plastic you'll barely use once for the novelty of it and keep in a box for the rest of your life, better buy a Retrode and backup your cart's savefiles.

I do not understand emulating with the original carts. I really don't.
Never will, either.

Those are hardware clones, not emulators.

>hardware clones

Eh, same end result. An attempt to duplicate the original hardware, inherent with many, many flaws as a result. Maybe you cut down on the latency a tiny bit, or maybe not, but that's about the only advantage.

I inexplicably have one of the first-gen units. It's working OKAY as an import player until I get around to properly modding my pal SNES. Controls are garbage though, it's practically unusable except when hooked up to a TV with a real controller.

Can you explain the importance on using real cartridges portably? I genuinely don't understand it.

Because he needs people to see his Earthbound bootleg in public so they'll he's rich and cool, with a deep love of "the real classics" despite being born in the wrong generation.

Honestly outside of stuff like the Analogue systems that kind of have a niche for high accuracy HDMI replacement systems, I don't get the point of clone consoles these days. It seems backwards to me. The real system is vastly more important to the authentic experience than the real cartridge and with how much any game you'd actually want to play costs these days, it's weird to think you'd have a few worthwhile games but not the cash to splash on an actual system. A real console and a flash cart makes way more sense than real carts and a clone console.
