I'm pretty burnt out on N64. I've got a pretty substantial collection and just ended up buying an everdrive to play the rest. Save for a yearly Majora's Mask or Conker playthrough I'd say I'm pretty much tapped.

GameCube had some really weird games and there are lots I can remember just vaguely that I'd like to track down. There's something a bit more nostalgic about it despite it not being my first console. Pic related!

There are retards here who intentionally make continual 6th gen threads, only to shit up the board out of spite of likely being underage, so I think you can understand why this can be a source of frustration around here. Generally no one has an issue with passively discussing any non-retro game here, by the way. It's the off-topic thread-making and intentionalities that derail the focus of this board the most.

We've been wanting a board called /v2k/ or /vr2k/ to resolve this, but the nipmod in charge says no deal. At this point, it's probably best just to make gen 6 (or /v2k/) generals on /v/ or /vg/.

Idk man, the way I see it retro died the day games started coming out in desperate need of patches with some sort of DLC leaflet instead of a manual. I wouldn't go as far as to throw Wii into it yet but 6th gen is certainly debatable.

I've always seen fragmentation as a bad thing so it's a sticky situation for sure. If you throw PSX and Dreamcast on here then GameCube isn't a very far cry from that.

DC is allowed because it was released before Jan 1, 2000. GBA is post-2000 platform, so no (except for ports on it from the SNES and such). Same goes for operating systems and arcade boards (eg, Win 2000 is the last retro OS, I think, since it was technically released in Dec 1999).

I personally think GameCube prices will stay inflated, and I base this on the N64 holding up so well. I also have very good prospects for the Wii U but we'll see how that goes with the large amount of ports that Nintendo is doing.

You know this could have been a thoughtful discussion about the rise and fall of Atari prices, the effect having an easily HDMI accessible console will have, something to do with the Gameboy player making GameCubes more multipurpose... Heck I tell ya,
